Re: Keith's SlamHis performance tonight was a tale of 2 halves. In the first half he was settling for 3s, often with someone in his face. In the second half, he was driving to the basket and contributed to the team effort.
When he matures (and he will with the help of Coach Brown) he will realize that the 3s aren't going to always fall and that they can't be forced. When your shot isn't there, you drive to the basket and work your backside off. When that happens, he will start getting open looks behind the arc and 3s will start falling more frequently. He will figure it out, hopefully by the time we get to the AAC tournament. And when he does, this team will be very dangerous.
Re: Keith's Slamhe doesn't create because he doesn't have the dribble skills and is not instinctive w/o the ball. He's learning which is fine. He has the green lite-he just can't hit a shot. He takes plenty of shots per minutes played. He's a freshman-he's learning. If you noticed in the 2nd half he starting at least trying to drive to the basket after Larry was getting after him during a timeout. He does hustle but he doesn't understand defensive responsibilities or made the commitment to his defensive responsibilities yet

Re: Keith's SlamKF is seemingly incredibly raw.
Yes, high expectations, but certainly not even close to fulfilling them. Tough to watch only because you care so much about him and want him to do well - and it's tough to see him "learning on the job" for better lack of phrase. Hope he keeps listening and learning from LB. ![]()
Re: Keith's Slamthe only shot that matters is your next shot. If we are down two to Louisville at Moody and you have one possession left, do you trust Keith on the floor with a chance to take the shot? I do. Agree that he has some learning to do but he is giving good effort.
Re: Keith's Slam
This pretty much sums up my thoughts. I agree 100% with your post. No instinct, poor-handling. He's a shooter that hasn't figured out how to be productive on a rough night from the floor yet. Probably going to take a year.
Re: Keith's Slam
Agree. It's not his is missing badly. His shots are rimming out. They'll fall soon enough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and

Re: Keith's SlamHe's an incredibly athlete. I genuinely think he's putting too much pressure to do a lot and demonstrate his hs rating every time he comes off the bench. Once he learns to relax and let the game come to him, we'll see the real KF. I believe we'll see that this season.
Re: Keith's Slamthere have been a lot of athletic guards who couldn't hit an outside shot but knew how to use their athletic ability to score. He's not maximizing his athleticism yet. Hey some never do. Ryan Manual is an incredible athlete but not a strong "basketball player". He's frustrating too.

Re: Keith's Slam
I agree. I just believe he will be that player we expected. I think he's a naturally good shooter that is lacking in confidence right now. Let's hope I'm right!
Re: Keith's Slam
Given that he is so raw, what is it that made him a top 20 player in the country coming out if high school? Peruna is my mascot!
Re: Keith's Slam
Ask Larry Brown and all the other coaches that offered him a scholarship. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and

Re: Keith's SlamOur "problem" with Keith is this whole "one and done" BS culture ("if you're a McDonald's All American you're an automatic lottery pick" craziness). The dude is a freshman. He gives us a spark. He's athletic. And he's got a lot to learn and improve on. Give it time. Anyone who thought he'd come in here and average 15 points/game is crazy. If he plays like this as a junior, then yeah, he's a disappointment. Give him a year to mature and not flunk out and with Mudiay on the floor. I think we will all be very pleased with him when his time here is done. This is a major learning year for him. We'll see how great he wants to become. I, for one, am reserving judgment and like what I've seen so far.

Re: Keith's SlamManuel can at least get to the hoop, he just can't finish
![]() Frazier can finish, he just cant get to the hoop. Too high of a dribble, which you get away with in high school, but you get busted on it in college. It is correctable and will improve once he gets used to the next level. Analogous to big men taking the ball down low on a rebound, which we did a ton at the beginning of the season but are really improving on. The dribble takes longer to correct, and might not happen until the off season but it is certainly something he can work on. He is smooth enough with the ball in his hands, so the handle ability is there, the dribble is just too long.
Re: Keith's SlamI think those of us who were worried about KF being a 'one & done' can relax somewhat.
He has great potential, and was deserving of McDAA status, and I love his effort/energy - but he is nowhere near NBA-ready like a Wiggins or a Parker or a Randle. Next year's team could be so deadly - Mudiay, N. Moore, Frazier, Kennedy, Moreira with B. Moore & S. Brown coming off the bench. Now, if we could land a Turner...oh, wow.
