Scots vs. Denton Ryan

Postby LakeHighlandsPony » Thu Aug 25, 2005 10:55 pm

I am going to have to check this one out. I sure wish Stafford was playing. I am going to take the Scots in this one. HP has always been the best prepared team on the field. HP never really makes mental mistakes either. Do you think by some miracle we might get a freakin committment out of have 4 good teams playing at Ford. Can we get some Kappa's and Theta's down there passing out water to the players!!

Unless you consider the 1987 team that allowed the Plano Wildcats to come from behind 27-0 in the 4th quarter of the playoff game to win, 28-27.

Wait...I think they came from behind, took the lead, and LOST on the ensuing kickoff...

You are confusing the Plano East and Tyler John Tyler game in the 1994 that was one of the most amazing football games I have ever seen. Unfortunately, it reminded me of the BYU Holiday bowl debacle for SMU in amazing last minute comebacks.

I thought Lance McIllhenney was the QB when Plano made its big 4th quarter comeback which would put the famous HP/Plano Playoff game in about 1977 not 1987.

1978 Plano 29 Highland Park 28 as Plano erased HP's 28 point lead in the 4th Q before about 35,000 in Texas Stadium. Thought to be among the classic games in Texas Football History.

Stallion is correct. It was followed by a 1980 re-match in which Plano took a 21-3 lead only to lose 23-21. HP and Plano also met in 1984, with Highland Park rolling to a 17-7 win that was not that close. I don't think they've played since 1984.

Typo. Thanks, Stallion. Yes, 1977. My brother-in-law was on the HP team, too.

I was drunk yesterday, too, when I wrote that...same excuse that you used on another thread.

HP did not need Stafford tonight! I sure liked Chris Olsen-sure wish he would head to the hilltop. Ford was packed tonight. That had to be good for SMU.

Bubba's and Jack's BurgerHouse were packed tonight, too. Doubt smu will benefit from any "packing"

It would be nice if SMU could pick up some of these teams top players.

yep unfortunately Chris Olsen has committed to tech but i talked to him a few times this summer and he is impressed w/ smu.. What i am hoping is, is that in january tech will get a blue chip or two and that will discourage Olsen and he will change his mind...

speaking of the smu game.. how about Webb coming in and playing qb... by the way is the younger bro of alexander webb (all area qb 2002 adn went on to nwstrn) he is small but he is fast and could be a good corner for us... Alexander almost transferred to smu b4 the 2004 season but smu wouldn't accept 30 hours of credit and he is very very smart and he decided to just give up football.. plus as a true freshman in 2003 he got crushed and had a lacerated liver or kidney can't remember but that scared him a bit
