Both SMU and UNT have nothing to brag about when it comes to fan support. However, both programs are trending in opposite directions....UNT up and growing support and SMU downward with declining support. The western and northern metroplex is open for the taking since TCU has staked a claim to the eastern part, southern and trying to make inroads into Dallas County.

TCU is about to become the 90's-2009 version of Vanderbilt in the SEC in the Big 12. Look at their recruiting. Yes, they will draw well because of name brand opponents and get huge $ from Big 12 TV contract, but I don't see them being competitive against OU, OSU, Baylor, Tech, and a rejuvenated Texas under Strong. It will be interesting to see how the TCU brass handles Patterson's fall from grace- he can't recruit well enough to be competitive in the upper echelon of the Big 12. With that said, I'd swap places with them this afternoon.
