1/19 Hofstra Roll CallModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: 1/19 Hofstra Roll CallDon't disappoint Larry now- I honestly think he wants a National Championship here at SMU-now-and he doesn't have time to build a program. Attendance does continue to frustrate him even the 6300 crowd at 6 p.m. the other nite

Re: 1/19 Hofstra Roll Call
so true; he didn't come here just to be competitive. As he says, SMU has everything it needs to compete for national championships...except maybe the rabid fan support that championship programs tend to have. Like he said after the Louisville loss...they freak out at Kansas after a loss and we are pleased to have given Louisville a competitive game? Next year is the year...would be nice to see Moody packed EVERY night, but the reality is that this is SMU and that may never happen
Re: 1/19 Hofstra Roll Call
Fair assessment, CP. Only God and HCLB know long he'll be at SMU. My guess he retires after next season. Fan bases take years/decades to develop. Dropping L'ville and adding Tulane, ECU, and Tulsa isn't exactly going to help. Doesn't mean for one second that next year won't be one hell of a ride! Just means some may have a little extra leg room. Pony up!
Re: 1/19 Hofstra Roll Calli thought about that after he said it on post game - he probably only paid attention pre-game b/c you really cant [deleted] about that crowd on wed night
Re: 1/19 Hofstra Roll Call
That really depends on expectations and standards. They differ for everyone G. Pony up!
Re: 1/19 Hofstra Roll CallRight - understand but from where we were it will grow, hard to go zero to 60 - students coming back will be good
Re: 1/19 Hofstra Roll CallHofstra will be an opponent that nobody will be excited about, but with the guys coming back from FL and having to go again right away, sure would be nice to have a rocking Moody to help boost the team's energy

Re: 1/19 Hofstra Roll CallUmmm.... This is a school that hasn't been to the NCAA in 20 years, never won a game in the CUSA tournament, 2 years ago would have been lucky to draw 2000 fans to the arena ( not tickets sold)...... And there is frustration with 6300 fans.
I'm ecstatic with the turn out. Shows people at SMU really want a winner and will support a winner. Look at all the empty seats at the UCF game today. A school with 60,000 students! I would think the lack of fans on the road will frustrate LB more than Moody. Pony 81
Re: 1/19 Hofstra Roll Call
I remember him turning around and looking up at the crowd five mins before the game started. It looked about 40% full at that point. I'll bet he went into heads down coaching mode after that and never noticed that the placed filled in well. It was a good but late crowd. No reason to be frustrated.
Re: 1/19 Hofstra Roll Callthat was Larry's post game commentary-not mine. He needs those seats filled to convince 4-5 stars that SMU is big-time now. He's not talking 2020-he's talking next couple of years with Mudiay and the other top kids we are after

Re: 1/19 Hofstra Roll CallYeah, I know. He never saw it fill in.
Re: 1/19 Hofstra Roll CallI think he makes that comment regardless of whether or not he saw the stadium fill in. He is raising expectations for of all aspects of the program - Players, recruiting, attitude etc. He talked about how he was upset after Louisville and surprised that people were congratulating him for a good game. Good game isnt good enough and neither is 6300. He wants it packed and loud regardless of the time of the game. From a fan that has sat through plenty of 2000 fan snoozers, I am ecstatic to see two solid crowds at moody this year. At the same time, I'm also ecstatic that LB and his players both want and asked for more. The higher expectations are a good thing.
