Cool Interior Defense Stat

Hofstra made 6 two point baskets-the last 3 were
1. garbage time with walkons in
2. fast break bucket
3. one foot on 3 point line

I know they were pretty much jacking up 3's all nite but did they score off a set play inside the 3 point line?

Granted I haven't seen every team in the country but I have a hard time believing any team plays better defense inside the arc than we do (Cincinnati is the closest I've seen). It is an absolute thing of beauty. I used to not like watching tough defensive-minded basketball teams but now that my team plays that way, I love it. Every one of our guys get in the jock of the guy they're on and smoothers them. The only breakdown I've noticed at times is a really quick guard like Smith of Louisville and Skyes of UCF can beat their guy for an uncontested lay up but that will be a lot tougher when Moreira comes back. Regardless, it just shows how LB and staff have made this team defensive minded.

Sat on the floor on the baseline. Could see the defensive tenacity up close. They are good.

I'm a firm believer we may have the best D in the country. It's stifling. The Hofstra coach said that if we didn't have the best D in the country that he would like to see that other team

I would say top 15, but nowhere close to #1. I would give the nod to SDSU and their cast of 25 year old players. SMU has just played a bunch of teams where they've had a size advantage.

You think we had a sized advantage in conference over UConn or Cincinnati or Louisville, even USF? UConn isn't that good in the middle but say we're bigger than those teams is crazy. USF's front line is 6'10" 245lbs and 6'9" 235ilbs.

I didn't say every team, nor did I say they didn't have a top defensive team.

Okay but you just said:

Well we just played - Cincinnati, UConn, Louisville, USF, UCF and Hofstra. I'd say we had the size advantage on one of the six, Hofstra.

Have you forgotten about the other 12 they've played or this selective memory Monday?

We didn't just play those 12 other teams. That was 2013. But if you referring to the teams we "just played" as the first 12 games and not the last 6, then you're right. We have a different definition of the phrase "just played"

My brain hurts from these discussions.

So in sum from today, we should only keep stats from games that happened the last two weeks, there were 9,000 people there yesterday, and our fans should wear every color in the rainbow to games.

Moving on to Tuesday's game... ;-)

No brag. My seats are nose bleed. I was a guest on the floor.
