SAE: Get a clueModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: SAE: Get a clueCrowd was about 6,000 which is pretty good for the opponent and time slot. Keep winning and the kids might shed the Frat colors and wear SMU colors soon.
Re: SAE: Get a clue6000 was not true for butts in seats. Nice loud crowd of about 4,000-4,500 in my opinion. But not bad at all considering Sunday night, low ranked opponent, and NFL.

Re: SAE: Get a clueGlad they were there - wish every fraternity made their pledges go to every game - they looked like they were having big fun.
Its perfectly fine on a message board to suggest a better way to do it is to make sure they are in SMU gear - and there is nothing GDI about that. I had to wear a fraternity jersey and it was fine and all - but it does look goofy and like you are self promoting. You can be proud of your school and your fraternity and get wild and do it all in SMU stuff or your fraternity stuff in SMU colors. It aint all that hard to change this - so don't make this a "tradition" when it is not.
Re: SAE: Get a clueWe have stepped up from a regional to a national spotlight and we need to start acting like it.

Re: SAE: Get a clueSAE amped up the crowd. Big fun. Hope they come to every game as a group. Ya. It would have been better if they did not wear Hofstra colors.
Re: SAE: Get a clueeasy fix to such a terrible problem: Greeks can put their letters on the back of an SMU shirt. That way they are SMU to the TV cameras but their organization gets props for representing @ the game.
Re: SAE: Get a clueOn a side note, Hofstra colors are blue and yellow. Really sharp IMO. Much better than sea purple and yellow

Re: SAE: Get a clue
how about some stallions riding around the side court...
Re: SAE: Get a clueperfect. Maybe we name them liberty and justice. The pledges can clean up after them.
Re: SAE: Get a clueLook, this all depends on the whim of one guy, the pledge-leader. The pledges will do, and will continue to do whatever he tells them to do. If he had just decided that supporting SMU was just as, or more important than repping his frat colors, this wouldn't be an issue. He didn't. Talk on this board isn't going to run 30 loud students off and hurt attendance, not being required to be there anymore will.
It is simple: 1) SMU is greater than, or the very least equal to your frat 2) You should come to games because they are fun and because these are your classmates--if teaching pledges is your goal, teach them to be good ambassadors for school spirit 3) Looking like you are trapped in the 1980s < looking polished, with it and supporting your school
Re: SAE: Get a clue
We aren't duke, unc, or ku. we aren't stanford, or vandy, or even UNM We are Marshall. I mean, SMU. YOU MAKE THE CALL! a) Fraternity's show up and cheer in their colors b) they don't show up and we have empty seats ![]()
Re: SAE: Get a clueSo the pledge-leader will boycott if they can't self-aggrandize?!? It isn't a seismic change, here is what KU SAEs wear to games:
