AAC vs old BE RPI

Postby SoCal_Pony » Mon Jan 20, 2014 6:13 am

Love it, per ESPN website

Top 5 AAC based on most recent RPI

Cincinnati - 23
Louisville – 30
Connecticut - 31
Memphis - 40
SMU - 41

Top former BE conference mates who fled

Villanova - 2
Providence - 46
Georgetown - 58
DePaul - 87
St John’s - 93
Marquette - 101

To be fair, AAC does have mucho dead weight which was a legitimate complaint. Just didn't like the criticism directed at SMU.

That dead weight is giving us a five tourney league vs a defunct big east which might get three.

One wonders if we were still in CUSA, with this team, if we would even be considered for March Madness (assumes we didn't win CUSA).

if we were in CUSA and Memphis was not, we would win the league easily. However we would be a REALLY tough seed and probably catch a buzz saw early.

The ship has sailed, but I still like to think what would have been if they could have held the ship together. It would have been an annual 7-8 bid league with the tourney in MSG. Sick.

I will be glad when you put your old avatar back up. That one is starting to go to the weird out stage.

Well, currently the BE is 4th in RPI and the AAC is 8th. That's because we have some awesome bottom feeders in

Houston 154
USF 162
Temple 164 (what happened the them?)
Rutgers 187
UCF 210 (ouch)

The other BE schools are
Creighton 14
Xavier 35
Butler 82
Seton Hall 105

The worst BE team in RPI still almost 50 spots higher than our 6th team. We have a lot more garbage in the AAC unfortunately.....

The Big East before the defection would have been great. Plus Boise and San Diego State. Would have been acbrutal Schudule.

I believe Boise and SDSU were going to be football only members.

Don't forget to add Creighton, Butler, and Xavier into the mix because even thought they were not from the old Big East they give added power to the new Big East. Remember that Xavier put a beat down on Cincinnati.
