Rutgers 8-10 (2-3), #201 in KenPom, Form last 5 games (W, L, L, W, L). Rutgers is 0-4 on the road. Best win is vs. Canisius back in November. Played Louisville tough and lost by 7 at home. "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."

Re: Official: SMU v. Rutgers
Bugs me when people say all games are important starting now. ALL games are important.. from the start of the season to the end of the season.

Re: Official: SMU v. RutgersPrevious games are over. Only ones important now are those yet to be played.

Re: Official: SMU v. RutgersThis game is important as are all games. However there are some games where there is more doubt about the outcome and the outcome is more important in the scheme of things like making the tournament.
For instance it's pretty easy to imagine SMU getting to 22 wins. All this would require is SMU to beat all of the teams not named Memphis, UCON, Cincy, and UL on the remainder of our schedule. 22 wins probably doesn't get us into the Tourney or at the least would make us one of the very last teams selected. Of course making sure we come out on top at Houston is very important, as Houston will be a tough road game but would still be a "bad loss" on the resume. Now let's say we win all the games against the lesser teams in the conference (which we should expect to do even though it will be difficult and nothing should be taken for granted), now SMU has 5 games against opponents that we will get props from the selection committee for beating. Of those games we have 3 left at Moody. Those home games against UL, Cincy, and Memphis then become very important as we need them to pad the resume to make the tournament. Of the remaining 5 games I would think that SMU is a lock for the tournament if they can win 2 of the games, that would make SMU 24-7 with only losses to quality opponents. SMU has a chance of making the tournament if they only manage to win 1 of those 5 games but it would start to get dicey.
