It's always hard to look like a true PG when you're the best scorer on your team. While PP is a very talented team, Mudiay is still their best scorer, and most explosive offensive player. He will also be the most talented offensive player for us the day he steps on campus. There's no way LB keeps him out of the starting lineup

Very, very little little. Extremely different players. I out-lined below. They both dribble the ball, that's about the extent of the comparison and I'm not kidding.

Nic Moore without question. If you're asking who takes care of the ball, better ball-handler, gets it to their teammates efficiently and effectively, that is Moore. Mudiay is the type of point that can flat out take guys off the dribble and score the ball at the rim.

Seems like the one thing this team is missing right now is a guy who can consistently get to the rim and score or get fouled. Next year is going to be FUN (not that this season isn't)

I've seen Mudiay 3 times live now, a number of times on TV. I've seen him on the AAU circuit. That's what I was referring to when I said he didn't look like the same player I saw this summer on the circuit.

Yeah, I'm asking who is more of a true point guard. So Nic Moore. I'm a little surprised about that after seeing Mudiay and Prime Prep play Okafor's Whitney Young team. Mudiay seemed like, yes, the best athlete on the team. But he was distributing at a pretty high rate.

Reminds me of Westbrook. Same type of explosive athlete, same size. That's who he looked like in the summer.

Mudiay could run PG no-problem, but I think he's better off the wing if you have the LUXURY of a guy like Moore. Allows him to get the ball in positions where he can score, break down defenses and kick-out. Gives the ball to him in a better position to be successful. Just my personal opinion, that's where I'd start him. He is a great passer though. Good vision.

Two years ago we were worried about getting the ball past half court.

Either way, whether you stick Mudiay at PG or Moore at PG, they both got to be starting at the end of the day. They are going to be the best guards SMU has and they compliment one another. They will probably both bring the ball up the court because I don't think it's going to matter who runs the offense. I just think Mudiay is more successful when he gets the ball on the wing as opposed to up-top in the times I've seen him.

Here's a full-game of Mudiay against Findlay-Prep (extremely loaded like PP is). It's from December, was on TV if you want to see how Mudiay plays. Watching him on film won't do his athleticism justice. You can also see he's not running PG a lot of this game.

Starting line up next year:

Moore PG
Mudiay SG
Ben Moore SF
Kennedy PF
Yannick C

Starting Frazier as a 3rd guard is an option depending on how he develops/who we play. Scary good w Cunningham and Sterling coming off the bench (with a possible stud SF juco scorer like Atwood). Both Moore and Mudiay will bring the ball up but Moore is the better ball handler / shooter.

Great discussion. Have we ever had this situation in the history of SMU basketball where we have as much talent at one time?? This team probably has more talent that the total of the best players in the last 40 years. What a luxury.
