Picture of fans in stands, I will say the blue seats were pretty full tonight comparatively.

At least Kate came back later to say that the crowd turned out to be 2K and had good student numbers and enthusiasm. Someone else we know of would have probably told the Big East a mob of Big 12 fans got lost on their way to a real basketball game.

Nice win last night! had a good time in the blue seats. Props to the SAE's pledges for their enthusiasm.

Great game for the mustangs. Anyone know why the two frats came out last night? It would be really nice if we saw more of that.

Not a fan of Laken and her style/excuse for reporting.... but you are deluded if you think that was a Big East level of turnout last night. It's the first thing that crossed my mind when I got to my seat "Yikes, this will be a BE conf game in 2 yrs." Doh even admits the program isn't BE ready. We have a lot to do. We're already in the conference, so who cares what other people think. But it only makes it worse, IMO, trying to defend barely 2k showing up.
khairopoulos Kate Hairopoulos Doh says SMU isn't ready yet for Big East (no surprise). Since I tweeted pic of crowd, should note 1,939 attendance, lots of fraternity guys

C'mon the BE games like Georgetown, Villinova etc will bring out many casual fans that could become new SMU fans. We know that crowd isn't ready yet and Doh admitted that, but with a $40 million redo and a marketing department ( finally!) funded from BE coffers, we will elevate all. The players coming in next year ARE indeed BE quality and the the next recruits will be recruited for BE play and THEN we will be BE. We aren't in the BE with BE play, so we are lame duck CUSA teams in fact. As the wins add up, the DFW curious and fair weather SMU fans will come out. Sophomore housing on campus in 2014 will force students to stay on campus.

Losh -- 8 minutes, no shots, 1 rebound. If he takes one shot off the bench, fine. But it really looks like he's no longer a part of this rotation based on UTEP.
When you're 3-point specialist and you aren't hitting shots (22% ?), you shouldn't get the minutes. I'm sure he would be the first one to tell you that.

Agree with you ponyscott, lots of potential in the future. But defending the now is a waste of time and makes us look silly. Have a long way to go. Glad the frats were there & hope they come back - only thing that gives Moody some life.

Unfortunately/fortunately, each game is "sponsored" by I believe a Fraternity and a Sorority where the pledges come out and watch the game. Not sure why two fraternities were there instead of it being coed. And while I am glad they come, its sad its a mandate. Moody would be a blast if the students would turn out. I do think more students will come watch us in the big east than currently. And I think the average b-ball fan might come every now and then, but I'm not expecting a huge difference if we have a bad product.

Lat year the SAE pledge class came out to a number of games. Since the Pikes were in the seats behind the bench and the SAEs were moving around, I am hoping that the SAEs were on their own and it has been decided that they will keep coming to the games outside of the ones they "sponsor".

I noticed the Moody renovations include a club/lounge. Will they serve alcohol there? It would be a perfect place to grab a few drinks before games, especially the Wednesday games!

Everyone worries too much. Get Moody renovated, the on-court product competitive, throw some marketing out there, and roll out that conference schedule. We'll get whacked around till the program gets the jump, but so what. That's inevitable.

It seems to me that there are several factors pointing to substantially higher attendance for SMU hoops over the next 5 years.

Hopefully one of those factors is "winning more games each year"
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

BUMP . . . 2 seasons ago we were confused but thrilled when fraternities even showed up. Now people complain at how they dress. Oh, how far we've come.
