Cedar Hill QB

Cedar Hill's QB put on a Michael Vick impersonation on us. He is one of the most amazing playmakers I have seen. Coach Bennett really needs to take a look at this kid.

I guess the DMN agree's with my evaluation. He was named Offensive player of the week. I also read that he is committed to Tulsa. Another one gets away.

It is not a good sign when Tulsa outrecruits the local university in the D/FW area. The last few years Tulsa has gotten several players from this area that could have helped SMU. Tulsa also has done a great job of getting Juco and Division 1-A players to compliment their roster. Although SMU did beat Tulsa last year, I believe Tulsa's superior talent will show this season. Tulsa realizes they cannot expect to compete with only recruiting high school players when most of the good players commit to BCS schools. Maybe another tough season with a few of the usual blowouts every Mustang fan has grown used to will wake up the administration and allow Bennett (or the next coach) to agressively recruit Juco and Division 1-A transfers.

One of the problems is that you cannot 'recruit' D-I transfers-- they have to make the first contact.

The bigger problem is the NCAA & DI coaches not allowing DI players a 1-time transfer exemption, forcing most SO-JR to step down to the DII-III.

NCAA Coaches don't seem to have a problem letting themselves 'transfer' between between DI programs without sitting out a season, do they?

Hell, the NCAA & the Coaches do not even allow DI "Walk-ons" to transfer without sitting out!

You obviously don't know what you are talking about...speaking half truths.

Div1a can transfer to Div1aa without delay (not having to go to Div-III).

Yes, you cannot recruit Div-1a transfers...you don't want OU cherry picking the best few players SMU has, do you? I think we can let this 'issue' of yours stand as is.

If you transfer, then you sit out and lose a year... that prevents kids from staging themselves for bigger and better teams...thus screwing the team they leave.

I think the transfer rules are fair. They apply equally to all, and protect SMU more than they hurt SMU. I only think that all other Schools should be required to honor their scholarship commitment the way SMU does, rather than kicking out their 'weak' players (a la Bobby Knight and new U.S.C. head [deleted])

Actually, I do. I was only making reference to DI programs like SMU.

To discuss DI-AA: I do find it amusing that GRGB would talk about fair & applied equally in the same statement that DI recruits cannot transfer with the same playing status as DI-AA, DII, etc.

Again, there is nothing 'fair' about allowing a Coach to hype his school to an 18 yr old then the Coach changes his plans & moves to another program, while the player(s) is not given the same 'fair' right and option. (Although my politics are Right of Attila the Hun, I'm beginning to believe that ncaa athletes may need a union).

No Coach is forced to sit out a year when they 'transfer'-- and most have buyout arrangments should they be terminated. The players, who ARE the game, should at least be given a 1-time exemption for transfer.

As far " as Cherry Picking", GRGB, you are right in that the Big Programs already do that-- it's called Signing Day and it happens to us each February.
