Jason,

I admire your ability to stay optimistic as the iceberg looms dead ahead and the S.S. June is plowing right on towards it.

I'm certainly not optimistic about next season. But if everyone on this board is convinced that a bunch of blue hairs go to the events and don't voice concerns, then go and raise the issue yourselves. That way if the team does go 3-9 next season, the people who are going to make decisions at least are aware of the concerns that have been raised, and will be more apt to push for a move.

I agree with what you are saying, but unless I recall incorrectly, they do not usually take questions from the crowd at these events. The luncheons/happy hours were the best opportunities for those questions.

There are a great many worrying signs from the football department, and I think it's fair to say that there is more scrutiny being directed at the recruiting part of the program than at any previous time. It is my hope that this spotlighting will bring positive results.

Q/A is one thing, but Hart will be there and other major influences within the athletic department. Show up early, stay late, and have conversations with those folks. It has an impact.

They should if they want to increase donations. I understand the skepticism, but it is certainly more effective than putting an opinion out here. I would ague that if a bunch of different people walk up to Hart and express their concerns, that has a lot more impact than even heckling June with a question.

Go to the event, ask the position coaches what their thoughts are on recruiting. Tell Hart that you are concerned. Tell Bob Sharp that you are concerned. Tell the Mustang Club leadership that you are concerned. That will make a much bigger impact.

That's true. It's much easier to rant on here, hoping to discourage others, but the fans here are not the decision makers. Talk to Rick Hart. Talk to people in the athletic department.

As for the Signing Day event, it's the only hint of SMU football that we get until spring ball starts.
