Pretty funny that they jumped in the time machine to call out people who panned the Brown hiring.

It was a hire that wasn't without some risk. Couldn't be happier with how things have turned out so far, but it wasn't the slam dunk hire that some seem to think it was. It was about as bad of a search as I've ever seen.

Glad JJT gave us a good write in ESPN. Not going to bash him, glad he goes to the games. His readers might be a different segment of the population that needs to hear positive news about SMU.

especially if you factor in he was on the ncaa selection committee with access to whomever. Anyway, all worked out and we are happy

not to bag on Orsini too much, but if you remember that search also did not go smoothly. A very public courtship of Paul Johnson that failed and no other real candidates until ED secured JJ and he kind of fell into out lap.

Until JJ was announced this board was in full panic mode on the FB search. And it took forever which also drove the panic.

I would like to suggest we differentiate between the search, and the hire. Orsini couldn't run a proper search to save his life. His revenue hires, at the time, were great (although RGT basically ordered him to interview Brown). You can botch the process and still reach a good result. His non-revenue hires have seemed to be atrocious, but that's wandering way outside an area of personal knowledge.
