Re: How many wins is SMU from getting any postseason tournamnot sure, but I'm really only concerned about one post-season option at this point. i think we need to win 7 more.

So you think we need 22 wins to make it to any postseason tournament? I don't think we would need 22 to get to the CBI. #HammerDown
Re: How many wins is SMU from getting any postseason tournamIt just depends. The right wins get you into a post-season tourney, not the UCF, USF, ect wins. They're basically worthless.
Re: How many wins is SMU the smallest postseason tournament?I rephrased the question. I think 3 low level wins gets us to the CIT or CBI.

Re: How many wins is SMU from getting any postseason tournam24-7 Expected RPI = 37
23-8 Expected RPI = 45 22-9 Expected RPI = 53 I would say we need 9 wins to feel safe. We go 8-4 over the next 12 to feel okay but def on the bubble. Win 7 and on outside looking in. http://www.rpiforecast.com/teams/SMU.html

Are you taking just about the NCAA or any post season tournament? #HammerDown
Re: SMU needs how many wins for smallest postseason tourname
What would be the minimum for the the NIT or CBI? #HammerDown
Re: SMU needs how many wins for smallest postseason tourname
There is no minimum. Each tourney has to get enough teams to fill their bracket. Plus, the NIT picks schools who can sellout the first few rounds of games as the higher seed will host the game. The final four is played at MSG. I know the NIT takes 32 teams and I'm not sure about the CIT. I believe some of the bigger schools turn down the invite to the CIT. SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four

Re: SMU needs how many wins for smallest postseason tourname
It's invite-only. There is no criteria. There's teams that are barely over .500 that get into the NIT so you can't really answer that question. Too many moving parts, winning the right games means as much as not losing to the bad teams.
Re: SMU needs how many wins for smallest postseason tournameI think we are 3 away from the NIT or CBI.

Re: SMU needs how many wins for smallest postseason tournameWin the five against the conference cellar dwellers and we are in the NIT. Win those five and split with Houston and one other (Memphis, Louisville or Cincinnati) and we are in the NCAA. Win five against the cellar dwellers, beat Houston and UConn twice and split with one of the others and we have a decent seed in the NCAA.
Re: SMU needs how many wins for smallest postseason tourname
Okay we at least need to be 1 game over .500. That would probably be 17 games so 2 more should lock up some type of post season invite at least to the NIT or CBI you would think. #HammerDown

Sounds reasonable. #HammerDown
