Maurice Lane and Willie Andrews both got at least some All-Big 12 consideration last year and in preseason and Anthony Airline was a very highly recruited player. Baylor and most observers consider the secondary to be a strength of their team and they ain't facing OU, Leach or anyone else. They certainly do not project to be "terrible" against a team with below average receivers like SMU.

Ok.. terrible was perhaps a little strong. But the secondary I witnessed was below average without question last year. Blown coverages left and right.. even Morriss admitted recently in a webcast it was something they've been working on because it happened too often last year for them.

Granted.. our receivers are not stellar.. but I see them having an advantage over this teams secondary.. especially with one of their talents injured. I think our Tight Ends will also get into the secondary.. at least I hope.
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

Most of the problems with our secondary are from the lack of a pass rush. That has been much improved this offseason, and we've added some talent to the pass rushing areas, so I think it should be better this year.

It was also just the second year in the 4-2-5, a scheme almost no one plays in HS, and one that takes a little bit of time for the OSs and the LBers to get used to.
