Postby Stallion » Tue Aug 30, 2005 3:08 pm

apparently the Tulane board had a report that the Tulane football team would move from Jackson St. to SMU. Welcome if true Greenie!

I hate to be a curmudgeon, but this raises a lot of questions. One, where are they going to stay? Two, where are they going to practice?

Three, what are they going to do when they are not practicing? You can't ship 100 college age kids to Dallas and let them sit around with nothing to do.

Are they going to be going to class? They are supposed to be student athletes. I am hearing about a lot of kids transfering because the whole semester is lost.

I doubt I am going to have a problem with whatever decisions are made, I just am curious about the answers.

Let's just worry about SMU winning some games instead of what happens to the Tulane football team.......

Welcome Tulane!

Let's mesh our football squads. Maybe we could put together a pretty decent team.

A warm welcome to the Green Wave.

I am hoping for a positive outcome for Tulane's campus and for everyone and everything you left behind in New Orleans.

Finding practice facilities is not the problem. The cotton bowl is vacant right now with a nice field and dressing rooms. There are also plenty of nice high school stadiums that are only used on Thursday and Friday nights. Housing is probably not an issue either. The old Hilton on Mockingbird has space, if it isn't already torn up for remodeling. There are plenty of hotels in the area.

Finding classroom space and professors is probably the main problem. I hope we are doing all we can to help the folks from NO. After all, if we can't help a conference affiliate, who can we help?

Good luck to the Green Wave and those at SMU that are providing assistance. I hope to see Green Wave fans and players on the boulevard Saturday. That would be really nice, and we should all make a personal effort to welcome them.
Just send 'da money.

I seriously doubt that Tulane players will be going to school at SMU.

It sounds like the semester will be on at least one month delay while the school digs out from under a ton of water. This happened two years ago when Isabel wracked Virginia and schools like William & Mary and Old Dominion were trashed. The football teams for those schools moved inland and practiced and hung out doing nothing for a month except practice.

The old Hilton is not compatible for living, at this time. The remodeling has begun. The Radisson Hotel might be one place they could stay or the Doubletree at Campbell Centre.

More importantly, how much are they paying us in rent?
