NCAA doesnt have the balls to punish a major program like Kansas. SMU, on the other hand...

Difference is we have LB coaching us. And some of us are up to the fight. And the NCAA has list a lot of credibility since 1986. Different time.

Different time. . . In the 80's, the SMU administration basically hiked their skirt up and let the NCAA act like a horny husband on honeymoon night. . . Agree with the other poster. "Admit nothing, lawyer up, and if this indeed gets to the NCAA for investigation. . . Fight like your life depended on it

I think we got nailed in the 80's for exactly the opposite. Thought we could lie our way through it. That didn't work so well.

If it is an SMU instructor that is coming forward it would be tough. But if it is a high school issue I would lawyer up. Kansas won a national championship with a kid from SOC that had his grades changed in high school and the teacher came forward on it and nothing was done about it.

Hell! Get the attorney(s) that represented Cam Newton, UNC academic fraud, or "Da U!"

No way SMU would commit any sort of academic fraud on campus. That wouldn't be tolerated at all by the administration.

Form a PR perspective, if I were SMU I would almost turn this into the opposite of the Larry Johnson thing. SMU is trying to back and promote inner city kids in Dallas, continuously investing in helping them be successful (there are a lot of stories around what athletes as well as the engineering school has done to help that community), and this reporter from WFAA is trying to tear them down.

That's exactly the route jason. They need to say we are doing all we can (legally) to get these guys an education. Why is WFAA trying to bring down these inner city kids?

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Very good point. We all hope this "investigation" is a big pile of BS. Even if it is, however, this guy asking these questions will create the impression of wrongdoing in the minds of some out there who don't follow the program closely. This is an absolute ambush.

Does he even attend games at SMU, or did he actually drive to Houston to ask these questions in a less SMU-friendly environment?

If so, that's even more gutless than it initially seemed. If you're going to dig around a program, you (or your station/paper) should cover the team's games, too. This guy is a childish hack.

You have to watch how you would word something like that so it does not come across the wrong way. And that is easy to come across the wrong way.

Completely agree. Make this into WFAA-vs.-inner-city-Dallas.
