SMU's Statement:

"We have been made aware of an internal DISD investigation and we have to reserve comment UNTIL a copy is released to us.'' (emphasis added)

wfaa got what they wanted. everyone will watch tonight.
they will try to drag it out like they have done before. when they lose, and they will, they will ignore their defeat, not admit it and move on to attack someone else.
its not about winning to them. its about generating ratings.
attacking smu is the best they can come up with at this time.
we are a proven ratings generator for them. they like attacking us.
they are a bully.

What courtesy does SMU owe Brett Shipp? Is he the SMU beat writer? Is he covering SMU athletics on a regular basis? I would certainly hope that SMU's policy when dealing with any investigative reporter is to gather as much information beforehand to avoid public embarassment. If indeed there are new facts emerging about the Frazier case and SMU hasn't received a copy of that report from DISD, then what are they supposed to say to Brett Shipp? You tell him to go screw himself and we will get back to if, and only if, there is something to talk about. Shipp jumped the gun and decided to run with this thing. If all he has on SMU is Maligi calling to check up on Frazier's grades and asking what he can do to improve them then he's going to look like a complete idiot.
Back off Warchild seriously.

If Shipp (as is my understanding) had been calling for months and getting stonewalled, then yeah, I'm okay with it.

How do you know he has been stonewalled?? I haven't seen that anywhere. I'm going to believe my HC over a guy trying to get news ratings.

And to the point on my last post, we've hired a HOF coach, singed the highest ranked recruit in program history and we beat a ranked team for the first time in ten years over the past couple of years, yet you choose to come on here and post about this instead of any of these major talking points. That's very suspect.

SMUmessageboardscreename...who is actually "stonewalling" who. During the Houston postgame conference Coach Brown actually inquired of Mr. Shipp, after very fullly answering Mr. Shipp's questions, whether Mr. Shipps inquiries were regarding something new, all of a sudden Mr. Shipp loses his voice. He didn't even have the courtesy to answer a ligit quesiton from the person he was interviewing. That is not even an interview, that is an ambush. Very poor effort on Mr. Shipp's part. He needs to be called on the carpet for it and should not get by with it.

LA_Mustang wrote:What message board wouldn't "circle the wagons" to defend its program?? The network that helped launch the investigation to bring down our entire athletic department is behind this "story" without what appears to be any real evidence to show SMU had a part in the change and we are just supposed to just sit back and watch quietly as this develops? If there was more evidence indicating SMU had something to do with the grade change your post would have merit.

I think it's pretty clear that "they" brought down our entire athletic department because SMU was doing something seriously wrong at the time. Don't you agree? SMU brought down their own athletic department when they decided to play that game. (Whether punishment fits crime, etc. are obviously other issues).

Did you ever consider that the Kimball teacher/coach/admin may have change the grade because they knew he had a chance at a much better life and had a chance to grow up under the structure in place in the SMU basketball program led by a great teacher/mentor?

Doesn't really have anything to do with SMU's involvement, but that's kind of like it's okay for a college coach to buy a player a car because he really needs to get around.

btw, it's odd you would wait six years (time of your last post) and post something like this when you're such a big SMU basketball fan.

Hope you don't really judge my fandom by my post count on a message board. I still knew found my name and password didn't I? I've also spent enough time on firstrowsports.eu over the years to arn my right to be a fan. I didn't like the tone of the thread and so I decided to call some people out on it.

shipp is sneaky and is a scum. If he created a false facebook account for another story, what won't he do. He probably created this screen name, a name so convenient it doesn't even allow you to search.

I actually lurk here a lot to find out what station the games are on (read the UConn game thread too) and came on here this morning to see if Keith Frazier's ankle was okay, and found out about this thing.

Even though I got called a cheesedick, I'll still cheer for the Ponies. Most of you guys are alright and I'm done arguing.

That stuff about Shipp's investigating tactics looks pretty interesting though. If there's reason to get pissed off at Shipp, I'm okay with it. I guess I'm just not there yet.

Thanks Stallion. Like I said that this was a DISD investigation on Kimall not an NCAA investigation on SMU.

We've already found inaccuracies in the Shipp report.
