I think the 500 pages was about a DISD policy of replacing grades with make up grades. Keith was just one of many examples. And actually I think what is KNOWN now is that the grade in question ended up not mattering, due to this practice. If they change the policy going forward than that will effect future students, but this matter appears closed unless there is something else we don't know.

Curiously no (maybe buried and I couldn't find) mention of the story on WFAA website now...

We all are quick to point out when something is done poorly. Time to acknowledge that SMU hit this out of the park.

I can almost guarantee this wasn't put together in the last 24 hours. They knew this was coming at some point most likely. I think they probably updated the memo in their file to reflect the recent media attention. I have to think our guys knew there was a chance someone ran with this.

From this SMU response, I am still unclear why Frazier had to take summer courses and was not allowed to practice basketball. The SMU response indicates that Frazier's official transcript showed him officially graduating from high school and meeting NCAA requirements. Why then the summer courses??

Me, too. Was going back to hear what Shipp said and it's GONE.

Is that part of our 'marginal qualifier' acceptance deal? To prove they can pass a course at SMU.

probably official transcript was sent AFTER summer school. I think I've read that the NCAA Clearinghouse doesn't even review file until the recruit's academic file is complete.

The summer courses were to make up for the supposed failed and changed grade. He graduated after completing those

There is no story. The grade that was allegedly changes was irrelevant in the end anyway. Very embarrassing for Mr Schipp. Rushed job. Not sure I would be willing to employ that guy if I was a TV station - to much risk going forward.

to the extent there is a story it seems limited to DISD employees

The sentence preceding "key finding"" answers question

"SMU received the final transcript on July 1, confirming the student’s graduation, with grades and credits indicating the student could qualify for SMU admission and NCAA eligibility"
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

Someone call the station and tell them you're looking for that great slander piece on KF by Shipp. You're going to run a story on slander in the media but you couldn't find the original story that aired last night on the website any longer...

SMU and the Clearinghouse accepted a real transcript that says he can play. Is DISD able and willing to track down his credit recovery documents, deem them deficient, then yank his diploma? I doubt it. Remember, this doesn't concern just Keith...this is hundreds of students.
