Who is Ziegler?
It is a rhetorical question. I know who he is. He is the guy, like everybody else on the Baylor squad that had a career game against A&M. Take that game away, he had just two touchdowns, didn't average 10 yards a catch, averaged 40 yards a game never had 100 yards a game. Even with the A&M game, he averaged under six catches and 54 yards per game. After all, Texas State kept him out of the end zone, how hard can it be? So, I'll ask the question again, Who is Ziegler?
I noticed a small reference in today's DMN about Jonathan Lindley playing cornerback. Who was the (defensive back) recruit that was seriously injured while still in high school, that Bennett honored his scholarship offer? What ever happened to him?
Rivals had Zeigler as one of the Top 5 WRs in the conference. He's an All-Big XII High jumper and his poor numbers at the beginning of the year were more a result of his playing with a brand new QB, fresh out of JUCO than anything else. King took a while to tune up on the offense.
Well, if any six foot high horizontal poles pop up in Ford Stadium over the next couple of days, I will let you know. You are really going to have to stop acting like every player on the Baylor squad is all-world. The guy has one game of over a 100 yards in two years. One good game. Whooptie freakin' doo. You should change the name of your mascot to "OGG"- One Good Game. That about sums up every player and every year since 1995.
Look, Stallion. I don't care. Once the kid is enrolled in college, it comes down to what he's done on the field. And I know SMU wanted him to. I know he played as a true freshman and had 80+ yards. When the kid puts up a Rashaun Woods-like performance at Ford Stadium, I will be embarassed. But he hasn't yet, has he? He had one good game. I think it is pretty clear I am no sunshiner. I am not blindly optimistic. I know there is a damn good chance that SMU loses this game. But I will not humor the Baylor fan and cowtow to their alleged greatness. And quite a few freshmen have made our traveling squad. You know that. Stupid question. Not saying they were any good, but they made our traveling squad.
How many players have I called "great"? I've called some players good, but "great" is not a word I throw around.
Zeigler is good, and will be better. He's coming into his own, and he'll be the feature receiver this year, without Marques Roberts on the team. The only players on our team that I would classify as "great" are Willie Andrews and Daniel Sepulveda. Others have a chance to show greatness this year, but no other plays have as of yet. Lane is close, but needs to show a little bit more. Stallion is right, you're setting yourself up for a fall here. You aren't just disagree with the fact that he's a great player, you're saying the kid isn't anything. You're saying he's got nuthin'. You could save face by saying he's a pretty good player, but he hasn't reached his potential and until he does, Baylor fans shouldn't talk about him. And there'd be nothing wrong with that.
I would argue that your question says Ziegler is great, by implication. Why else ask who is going to cover him? You didn't mention the other receivers. If I said "Rolando Humphrey," would you have just said, "OK, thanks!" No, I doubt you would and I doubt you can say you would with a straight face.
I am not sure I have said he stinks. What I am saying is that SMU should worry about singling out the opposing players that have singled themselves out. A couple of years ago, when OSU came to town, I knew we had no hope of covering Rashaun Woods. And we didn't. Ziegler has not shown he capable of that. Maybe he will some day and if he does, I hope it is against somebody else.
1) Zeigler may be coming into his own, but he definately hasn't established himself well enough to gameplan around him. That isn't a disrespect, he is going to be a good player, but he hasn't established himself at that level yet.
2) We covered the Woods brothers man. Not very well, but stuck to it, so take a wild guess on how we will handle Zeigler. And it will be Ro on Zeigler most likely, that seems pretty obvious.
I didn't ask the question, and I seriously doubt I would have said, "OK, thanks!" because that name would mean nothing to me. But if you said:
OR
That I would find helpful.
Does anyone have an answer to my question or do we just engage is silly demonstrations of personal repertoirer?
