It was manually redacted with a marker but I saw Keith's name mentioned in at least one place. I assume it was a redaction error that was not caught.

That was as much of a backpedal as he could cough up without directly saying "I was reaching and had nothing."

I'm going to say one more thing and I am done. What really irks me about this is that it shows utter ignorance of just how cleanly this SMU program has been run. The DP was a long, long time ago. Since then we have run the cleanest program in America, outing and publicly airing even the tiniest of transgressions. The cleanest program in America. That's what makes this type of witch hunt so bitterly disappointing.
Moving on.

News flash: University's have a different admission standard for athletes.
Mentioned on the news cast that there are other students - many others - who's grades have been fudged. They are quietly " passed" to get them out of the building so the next class can move in. I bet this kind of thing happens all the time. This is why " No Pass, No Play" was implemented. But it didn't get support so it has been watered down. Just like the passing standard for the STAR test. They need to make the passing grade low enough so 90+ % students can pass, graduate, and make room for the next class.
Why oh why did they single out KF? Was it ratings? I can't believe they would stoop so low ( sarcasm).
Well stated Pony81… and I just realized we are talking about a physics grade, not some remedial math grade! This is Ridiculous! I took Physics as a Sr in HS, and I am not proud to admit, but I loafed through that class. I am quite positive I had the worst grade in the class, not even close to passing. I spoke to my instructor about what, if anything, I could do about my grade. Honestly, it was so low, there is no way I could bring it up quick enough. But, my instructor told me, buckle down, work hard the last 2 weeks, and you will be fine. He explained that he grades on a curve, and that he isn't about to fail students in a tough class, when these students have worked so hard to get to take difficult classes in the first place. I passed my physics class, through the discretion of the school, soooo… Mr. Shipp, you aren't taking my SMU diploma!

You sir are an ostrich. I love this program, but I'm far from blind as to how it operates. Put it this way, when I heard we were in trouble w wfaa, about 3 things came to my mind that could have had teeth. When I heard it was about Frazier and disd, knew it was nothing then. There are a lot of holier than thou types on this board that should count their lucky stars that shipp sucks and picked a bad topic. You don't get to be where we are in 18 months w/o going hard.

This Mathew Haag story in DMN is the first I've seen that talks about the summer school course that was taken to "make up" for the insufficient Physics grade. As I mentioned above, Frazier took an internet History course during the summer-not a make-up of the Physics grade. Small, but important detail that I don't believe either Shipp or SMU clearly stated. He obviously need one more core credit-and either Science or History was a sufficient core credit http://www.dallasnews.com/news/educatio ... hanged.ece

Hoopmanx is correct on this one. If you think our BB program is the cleanest in America than you are an idiot. I just hope we are smart and nothing comes back to bite us...we shall see.

Clean. Dirty. I don't care. Keep it inside those arbitrary NCAA guidelines. No evidence that we've done anything out of the ordinary.
Everybody needs to calm down.

Relax, no loose lips or sinking ships here. That wasn't the point, and you guys should know me a lot better than that. Just finding this whole dialogue very far off point.

I'm not in the know clearly, but I can't even imagine what programs like Baylor do to get kids to go to Waco, for example, or we have all heard of what Ok. State has down with a certain female group, and we've heard about the fake classes at UNC. If we're going to cast stones, stones will be cast at everyone single program, with very few exceptions.
