Re: We Are Starting To Get ItLAM- good example is his lack of action regarding the men's soccer program. This program has gone from bad to worse with the current coach and yet Casper still refuses to do anything about it.
P.S. did you enjoy the pics of tikigod boozing it up in the islands during a very critical time in recruiting? And you only hear crickets and excuses from our a.d.
Re: We Are Starting To Get It
Just based off his own words. Reading reading straight from the hart, his responses to emails and tweets. He gives a lot of excuses why things are bad, aside from the June contract fiasco, and yes some are June issues, and doesn't seem to have any solutions, which leads me to believe he doesn't think there is any. I don't expect him to share his plan with me, I just expect him to have one and it just seems he doesn't. BOP - Providing insensitivity training for a politically correct world since 1989.
Re: We Are Starting To Get ItECM, I'm well a [deleted] ware about the JJ extension. I realize his hands were supposedly tied. For the record, I don't care and the fact that he's still here is a joke. My comprehension skills are quite high enough to notice that you will defend anything or anyone at SMU until you get burned by them way way down the road after almost everyone else has jumped ship. Hart just hasn't pissed you off yet, so you're willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He's slashed our AD budget and appears to be more concerned about things off the field than actually winning on it. wait and see the pitfalls the come of his lack of leadership and vision for our sports outside of basketball. LB could tell hart to jump off a bridge and he probably would.

Re: We Are Starting To Get It
Yeah, I defended JJ until Tulane game 2012. Ever since then I've said he should go, but I'm mature enough to realize the financial realities of why it's not that easy. Also, what are Hart's "excuses" you're referring to? Yes, being in the AAC hurts us in football recruiting as opposed to being in the Big 12 or the SEC. That's not an excuse, that's a fact. Yes, not having an IPF hurts us in recruiting, as opposed to TCU and Baylor, which both have IPFs. Those are also facts. Rick isn't going to say publicly that JJ has completely checked out and doesn't give a [deleted] beacuse like I said earlier, we can't get rid of him until the end of this season. If you talked to him privately, off-the-record, I'd imagine he might say something differently. As for the budget, my understanding is that many departments at SMU were asked to cut back, that is not specific to the athletic department. I don't think Rick just walked into his office one day and decided he wanted less money from the school for athletics. How does that even make sense? 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient
Re: We Are Starting To Get ItCan u guys go fight on the fball board pls? Thx
Re: We Are Starting To Get ItI tweeted Hart a few weeks ago about the empty red seats, and he told me that a plan was in the works to address that situation. This email must have been what he was talking about, and possibly further actions should seats remain unused.
While I question the JJ extension and many moves on the football front, I have to give him due credit when he makes good decisions, such as the InNOut promo, this email to club seat patrons, the "let it ride" promo, etc. Hopefully football someday gets the same attention as basketball, but we are on the right track.

Re: We Are Starting To Get It
One of the first things Rick talked about when he came was here was how proud he was the he cut the budget consistently at the powerhouse that it UT Chattanooga. That and raising the standards for grades of athletes are to meet (both kind of scared me a little). I understand fiscal responsibility, but if we even want to have non D2 sports in a few years, now is the time to literally go for broke. If you would like me to outline specific examples of my problems with ricks attitudes I will, but right now I'm at a conference and have already wasted too much time on here today so I'll do it later. But as someone already pointed out, look at soccer and how swimming, where we always a power, is rotting away as well. Re: We Are Starting To Get It
I think two things are holding Hart from making the changes that you envision, 1) lack of money and 2) President Turner. Both are tied to money. Turner wants to make SMU better. He believes by raising money and building shiny new things that everyone would believe he has made SMU a top institution. Not to discredit the hard work he has done, but there are a lot of flaws to his building model. In order to make SMU "better", Turner has relied on out of control spending from the endowment and students. The amount of debt SMU has accumulated is shocking. Instead of focusing on accumulating top notch faculty and administrators, he focuses on building since it appears to be progress. I am sure that if you have calculated the spending since the beginning of the Centennial fundraiser, but you will realize that we are now further in debt that when we started. Turner is too busy trying to control the spending on campus to give extra funds to Hart to use in non-revenue sports. He thought moving to the Big East would secure additional funds. Lack of Money--the athletic department is in debt, like the rest of the campus. The only way to get new things built in the foreseeable future is through alumni donations that are earmarked for specific programs. SMU is filled with billionaire alumni, so I hope they continue to give so that students can get some of the resources they need to become competitive. All you have to look at is the basketball model to realize that SMU can be great in everything it wants to--from academics to football--all we need is for alumni to pony up. SMU will always be competitive when they make the right hires, give programs the needed resources, and involve the community.
Re: We Are Starting To Get It
Most departments on campus are being asked to cut their budgets in the next fiscal year between 1.5% and 5%. In the letter that just went out to students, costs for tuition, housing/dining are going up an average of 4.9% for the next school year. Peruna is my mascot!
Re: We Are Starting To Get ItGreat work by the marketing team or whoever is behind this email. Larry Brown sure knows how to turn us into a top program
Re: We Are Starting To Get Itgreat job whoever is responsible. If it doesn't work, time to get out the stick.
Re: We Are Starting To Get It
Like lighting that will highlight the field, not the stands. That would help. Can we move all of our games to be played after dark?
