I went and sat in the upper seats during the open house/preview and they had way more leg room. Coach on AA has more legroom.
It won't keep me from going to games or even renewing the same seats next year, but it is a very uncomfortable 2.5hours, especially when you're packed in next to full grown men (yes, my area is actually well attended)
Ok this is going to sound INSANE.... But I'm gonna suggest it anyway. Why don't you stand up?

Not realistic to expect non-students to stand for 2 hours. Sorry, but I'm on RE Tycoon's side there. I'm as passionate about SMU as anyone, and I like to sit down except for big plays

I have always wondered why we didn't design Ford to have the cameras facing the home side.
1) the sun faces east 2) it's normal to show the visiting side 3) the press (ostensibly related to the camera crews) are in the press boxes, on the west side
I know. But, spartan crowds on the visitors side were to be expected.
The second we stop referring to the east side as the visitors side is the second we become a big-time program. This isn't high school football and something like 75% of the seating on that side is supposed to be for SMU fans (the visitors only have a few sections). Though the visiting bench is over there, the east side is the home side just as the west side is the home side. Sorry, pet peeve.
Calalleen is right Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1. SMU needs to address the problem of the no shows to basketball games. I think that since we are capping the free students tickets at 750, we should make a line of students outside of moody. First come, first serve type deal. After the second time out, the students in line can fill in all the empty seats.
2. SMU nees to address the problems of empty suites at the games. How about allowing faculty, professional/graduate students, or recent alums to use them when they aren't being used.
3. Allow Miller Event Center to become more inclusive. While I understand that people in premium seating should use it before games and at halftime, how about allowing students and their guests to experience the Event Center during away games. Imagine if the Event Center became a sports bar type of environment during away games, so that we could cheer on our team. The Event Center could also be used for football away games, to keep SMU fans interested in SMU sports.
Here is the response that I received from Hart. He is really an approachable AD. I like him. Thank you for contacting me. It is great to hear from your students. We appreciate your interest and support! I like your idea about letting additional students fill empty seats on game day. There are some logistical issues that would need to be considered, such as: Would students be interested in this gamble? Will we create more goodwill with students (those fortunate enough to get in) or negative feelings (those who “waste†their time and are not admitted or are admitted but don’t like their seat location)? How long do we wait before we can assume that the ticket holder is not coming? What if a student fills the seat and the ticket holder shows up? None of this prevents us from exploring this idea; however, we would need to work through it a bit more. We are currently working with account holders in an effort for them to transfer their tickets to someone else or notify us for reallocation if they cannot attend a particular game. Perhaps this system could include students. Suite holders pay a premium for their suites. They lease them on an annual basis. It would be difficult to reallocate those to other groups. Although some suites may not by full during the holidays or for certain weeknight games, I think they will be well utilized for the majority of the men’s basketball games. It may be possible to host “watch parties†in the Miller Event Center. It is something we will explore. The cost of opening that space, and the maintenance of the “high-end†furniture must be considered; however, this is a possibility. Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. We will incorporate these ideas into our assessment and planning. Please contact me if I can be of service. Go Mustangs! All the best, Rick

Someone tweeted Rick Hart about that and he is working on it. Rick Hart â€@AD_RickHart Jan 20 “@ryanfoster365: @AD_RickHart Just a suggestion, but if red seats are empty, let others move down. Thx!†Have some ideas to introduce. Thx!

I've heard about a program that allows someone with a season ticket who knows that they aren't going to be able to make it to a game to sell their tix back to the school for, like, half of what that ticket costs by going online and allerting the athletic department. Then the school can resell that tickete to someone to fill the seat and make an additional profit. I believe the University of Memphis did it a couple of years ago. We don't already do this?

Can SMU donate basketball tickets to AAU Coaches and High School Coaches? (or is this crossing the line regaring recruiting rules?)

Let them take care of the straws first. One step at a time.

Straws and tops are off the list--enjoyed a covered drink at the last game. I believe juice boxes are the last item on the Moody renovations list needing to be accomplished.
