I don't think you fully understand how selling ticket works no offense. I'm not going to argue it but they wouldn't be sold out for games without selling the amount of season tickets the did, the promotions they ran (3 for 60, let it ride, ect), group tickets that went on behind the scenes, the brokers, ect. And yes, they are in a great position now because there is a great season ticket holder base now. You don't just sell 2k tickets on game week no matter who they play. Indiana's ticket office would have a hard time doing that. So there's a tremendous amount of work well before. Like I said, Hofstra is a prime example. That stadium was maybe half-full, yet 6K tickets were sold. That's outstanding. They also did an outstanding job last year considering the team and the record.

While I agree that a lot of it goes to the new building and the team, crap games should not be near sell-outs and it looks like almost every game from here on out will be sold-out from what I'm being told.

95% the credit goes to the team, the building, and the students. And on signing a top recruiting class gives excitement for buying tickets as well. It has been noted in the past on the Legends screw ups. But Legends is not the majority of the reason for the sellouts. Take that mess back to Ohio and sit on it. As long as we win we will do in tickets sales.

You clearly don't have a grasp on things. Legends didn't screw up, they're not from Ohio at all, they're based in New York City. If the architects tell you seats will be there on the redesign, you sell those seats. When those seats aren't able to be put in because basic measurements weren't accounted for, you cut down the number of seats and then have to smooth things over with season ticket holders that have already bought.

And if you're referring to the ticket printing itself as a screw-up, that was outsourced to a company in San Diego I believe. SMU has already eliminated the contract with them and are looking for a new printing company. So, I don't think you know what you're talking about, again no offense meant. If it was all the team, building and students, why is Nebraska sold out nearly every game at 15K when the team blows? Why did the U have basically empty games last year when they were top 10? Why doesn't Ohio State sell out non-conference games when they were top 5 this year and one of the 5 biggest fan bases? There's a lot more to it then just a team, building, and coach.

Well, you can only sell so much. That's how many of these places work. These guys come in, turn things around, and move on to new opportunities. USC is in bad shape with ticket sales right now, so that is why they are a prime target. Nothing to do with SMU but once you sell the suites and stuff at Moody, there's not much more money to make. They get paid commissions. When you're in ticket sales, you move on. I knew a bunch of guys at the Cowboys when Jerry's World first opened, 95% of those guys left. Now it's just renewels, so they will turn it over to the athletic department and I would assume they would train students and pay them peanuts on hourly as opposed to commission. The suites and corporate sales would obviously still reside under a higher-up, but the regular sales will be no different then the guy working the ticket window on game day. And yeah, they are all over the place, would be a cool company to work for imo. USC has a great opportunity, and I know Legends is trying to add suites and premium seats to the Coliseum, meaning big money/commissions.

They can move on to selling SMU football

lol, I'm pretty sure their contract was specifically with SMU for basketball but I'm not positive and don't want to just throw that out there as fact. You'd have to check but yeah, there is more than enough opportunity with the football team.

One good thing I can report, they are holding back Louisville tickets because there will be quite a few football recruits there for the game. Apparently June is doing recruiting this year and not taking the winter months off to head to the Caribbean haha

Great news that JJ is focusing on the 2015 recruiting class by having recruits at the Louisville game............he has a history of acting like he's recruiting 11 months before signing day when it's easy to talk to recruits and throw out offers hoping some kids "commit" but when the real work starts, he bails and we end up with another "diamond in the rough" class like the one signing next week.

I really believe you are a shill for Legends now. I figured you worked for them since you have such a "grasp" and "knowledge" of ticket sales. That printing issue is not the issue I was referring to regarding the Legends screw ups. Nebraska just built a new basketball arena and the state does not have a pro team. They also have a new coach in his 2nd year and he is recruiting well. I guess you did not know Nebraska just opened the new arena this year. I have a good friend that lives up there and covers Nebraska and the sell out are not about Legends. Legends is riding the coat tails of SMU's success and you are claiming Legends the reason for the ticket sales success. Go somewhere else with that mess. No hate for you I just don't like you deceptively promoting your company like they deserve over half the credit for the ticket sales and they don't.

I agree and I don't understand all the hate thrown at OBF. He has been a good poster and brought some relevent information to the board. I quit going to the football board to avoid all the crap spewed over there and now my "rainbow and kittens" board is getting hijacked.
When will I start feeling stimulated??

I actually see what Reb is saying. I called the ticket office about two weeks before Mudiay signed and the person told me that they were selling only about 30 to 40 tickets per week. After Mudiay committed to SMU on ESPN I called the next week and they had we now selling over 100 tickets. I just wanted to see of that spike maintained and a few weeks later they were still selling over 100 per week. That was because of Mudiay not Legends. But I guess OBF would give most of the credit to Legends from the way he sounds.
