Baylor to play Rice in 2007.

Postby Caballo » Wed Aug 31, 2005 2:24 pm

Baylor signed a four-year deal to play Rice in football beginning with a game in 2007 in Waco. The series will resume in 2010 in Houston, followed by 2011 in Waco and again in Houston in 2012.

We need to begin playing Baylor on a regular basis. It is a natural rivalry that we need to schedule on a yearly basis. I would prefer to play them rather than the Toads, who would much rather play their games in the Pacific time zone. I would also prefer to play Baylor rather than Southwest Texas State Teachers College.

Hey Copeland, see if you can get this done.

I couldn't agree more (on the scheduling of Baylor).

I love our new conference and it will be fun to travel everywhere in the western division. With the exception of UTEP. Not that I have any real problems with El Paso, but it isn't drive-able, and seeing as you'd have to fly, what else is there to do for the rest of the weekend? (I mean, say whatever you want about Tulsa, but you can get there and back on any given game day... even if it's a night game.)

When we move to a 12 game season, I'd like to see us play Baylor and TCU every year, with the other two being a game vs. a lesser opponent, and the other one being against a former SWC rival (Arkansas included).

I agree. I definately like playing Baylor. Sure I can only remember one of the games but it was a fun one to go to BU and play a game in their stadium.

Hope we can figure out something. I MUCH rather play BU than Tech every year. I can atleast drive to Waco.

While they are currently driving me bonkers, I have no problem playing Baylor every year. I suspect that if they had their druthers they would alternate Rice and SMU every year.

You are being pretty optimistic there ButtTitan. Rice and the Toads will probably have pretty good teams in 2007. Baylor might have a pretty difficult time beating them.
