What is Myles looking for that SMU doesn't have? Massive school/fanbase?
If you're the #6 player in the country and from NYC, why would you go to St. John's (a la SMU) and not Duke, Kentucky, UNC, Kansas, ect for basketball? SMU basketball isn't there yet, it's going to take more than one year to turn around. Just last year they went .500 basically which is when the majority of his recruitment foundation was laid. He can pick any school in the country, why SMU other than you're a fan? Know what I mean? I ask myself the same question, why is Luke Kennard probably going to Kentucky when he grew up in Ohio and Ohio State is a great team? Kentucky offers things that Ohio State can't in regard to basketball, it's just the way it is. Oklahoma State at the moment offers him an opportunity at a very deep run in the NCAA tourney, great fan base, good football team, sold out gym every game that is a big arena, playing in the B12 which is one of the premier conferences where you get to go play in Allen Field House, ect...
I get what you're saying, but if you're a prospective one and done guy, and you have the chance to learn from Larry effing Brown for a year and get the ball feed to you by the best PG in the nation while playing in a conference with big time programs like UConn, Cincy, and Memphis, that has to count for something.

Probably does but the log jam of bigs we have probably negates that. Also Coach Brown has an undeserved tag of not playing freshman.

Well, if he goes to Texas, chances are he's taken care of for life with or without the NBA if you catch my drift. There's a lot to be considered. I think the biggest disadvantage is his relationship with coaching staffs. For example, he's made 3 unofficials to Ohio State in the past year and an OV. A lot of the framework for Ohio State was built last year, a full year of recruiting. SMU wasn't very good last year and even Mudiay was a stretch to come to SMU. Now the tables have turned but I think it's one of those things that it's too late for many 2014 guys to jump into the recruitment late. 2015, it will pay dividends in having a good season with NBA guys. You will see 2015 guys considering SMU all over the place. But SMU bball was not near the level of Okie St or Texas a year ago and that is when the foundation is laid moving forward.
Another question, what does SMU offer that Texas doesn't? Really, that list is a top 3. He's not going to Duke and he's not going to Kansas, so you can throw those out the window. It's Ohio State, Okie State, or Texas baring something ridiculous. If you say legendary head coach, I agree, but Rick has put plenty of guys into the NBA at Texas and coached Durant not that long ago.

Huh? How is he taken care of for life with or without the NBA at Texas?

that's a myth. See AJ Abrams, TJ Ford, Royal Ivy, Vince Young...I could go on and on. If you are implying that Texas runs a dirty program, perhaps you should look in the mirror at Ohio St who arguably has the dirtiest football/athletic program in the nation

Okay, so he can come to Ohio State where it's the dirtiest in the nation (I also didn't know you were a Texas fan ). He's taken care of and I'd be extremely pleased. So there's another good reason. Either way, he's a lottery pick. He's set for life the day he declares and signs his first contract. And all those guys were set for life minus blowing millions. LOL at Vince Young in that or TJ Ford in that statement. As if they didn't have millions...And Abrams/Ivy aren't near the same level as Turner. That's not even comparable, really not even the same stratosphere. Anyways, so why not go to Texas? I realize SMU can offer a lot of the things Texas can and in some ways, offer much more than Texas, but Texas has been recruiting him since he was a sophomore and had a good relationship. That will win out more often than not. I don't even care to debate this nor is it worth my time, I'm simply letting the folks know that care, that he will be OVing to Okie State this weekend and this is one to watch. I will keep the info to myself next time.

Vince Young declared bankruptcy last week. Yes, he's an idiot with investments but it's not like Texas is handing him briefcases of cash to help out

How much do you need? I figured 20 million or so pretty much set you up for life... Well Turner will have a great financial foundation the day he declares. Whether he blows it on hookers, dinners, cars, and houses, I can't answer that. And I'm sure Vince has a person or two he can go to for a loan right now, just not sure if he can secure a 5 million dollar credit line with no income.

UT does not support squat. They will use him up and spit him out. That whole set for life thing is a joke no matter where you go.
He should come to SMU for two reasons - Mudiay and Moore. THey will get him noticed because they will be the best two guards playing together next year in all of college basketball.

Yes, cause all his eligibility is done. He already won them the NC, why should they care what happens to him after they used him up. Thru have other prospects to buy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Texas is not "clean" by any means. Not as bad as others perhaps but definitely not 100% innocent.

Clean? Dirty? Does it matter? Do what you think you've got to do. If you think that includes violating NCAA rules, then just don't get caught.
All these debates about who's clean and who's dirty just seem like such a waste of energy.
I'd prefer my team keeps it inside the rulebook, but that doesn't mean there aren't some boundaries that can be pushed. I think that's the goal for most (if not all) competitive NCAA programs.
