Welcome, Bo!
All that teaching hasn't resulted in many conference titles, national rankings or wins against relevant competition. Clearly they can't be that good at it.

I'd say they're very good at it. A lot of those players (Reed, Line, Davis, Moore, Crawford, etc.) were not exactly flooded with offers from other schools, and still ended up in the NFL. Someone taught them how to get there.

It was a combo of Bennet recruits and better teaching from JJ. I think the NFL prospects die off when you combine JJ recruits with JJ teaching. I could be wrong. Have we had a JJ recruit eligible for NFL yet? If not then I can't confirm my first point.

That's what I get for trying Most or all those recruits made it to NFL right?

All have made it to the NFL in the sense that they've either been drafted, signed or have made a roster at some point and time after departing SMU.

Good for them because that is a feat few achieve. No doubt the JJ tutelage got them there and also with the Bennet recruits as well. The only thing I went pro in is Engineering

I really like this player. I just wish we had more than 2 years to develop him. Margus really became a more complete player after his 2nd year imo. But he will provide depth. If we had 4 years to develop him he could be a beast.

Oh, those Bennett recruits just were so highly ranked. SMU 2002 #69 2003 #62 2004 #144 2005 #82 2006 #110 2007 #99 JJ has actually recruited better than the mustache guy. That's not counting Margus, and GG. SMU 2008 #91 2009 #81 2010 #76 2011 #50 2012 #90 2013 #71 This guy looks like he could be Margus 2.0
May the forth be with us.

Considering our competition now we probably will not get away with having classes like that and be able to challenge for a conference title.

for the record that class ranking of 144 in 2006 was a computer generated mistake-there weren't 144 Division 1A teams in 2006 much less the 170 or so Rivals listed. I've noticed that before. Should be obvious to any one who follows College Football. I believe SMU had the 22nd worst class and Division 1A had somewhere around 120-121 teams at the time so probably about the No. 98th ranked class that year

Rounding error? Or Endian error?

The #144 ranking was because that was the actual ranking with the Div 1AA schools included.
