They'll be out in full force on signing day

Temple has one of the best classes in the conference. Theyre right behind USF and CIncy. THey actually have 4* recruits. Tulane also has a much higher ranked class than us.

The only teams below us are Uconn and Tulsa. IIRC ECU is basically tied with us.

We already know we can't compete with Tulane on the playing field.

I'm a bit confused when people say, "June Jones is riding out his contract before he leaves". Why?

In what industry is it OK to knowingly underperform (presumably out of spite, the way you all are making it seem), before moving to another job? Last I checked, referrals are KING in most industries, and he has enough experience to avoid doing something as stupid as proverbially squatting on what he has, until he leaves.

That doesn't help him personally, or his career, in the slightest.

JJ doesn't need help or referrals. He only wants to go to one place, and only one place wants him - Hawaii. They are a match made in heaven. It's no secret he jumps on a plan back there every chance he gets. I'm willing to bet they already have an under the table agreement for him to be the next HC in 2015. No interview, or referrals needed.

shitt-can Jones after signing day!

Although there can be some benefit of Jones being at college All-star games and Pro-bowl(recruits see that he is engaged when it comes to getting guys to pros), it is ridiculous reading from some recruits how they never receive SMU offers because Jones doesn't think that offer will be accepted.

Hire a young, motivated high school coach if you need too, or Chad Morris if we can steal him away. Next year's class will struggle to make it out of bottom 10 if we keep him.

We think this recruiting effort is weak, SMU has seen nothing yet?

Edit: Feb. 3rd, 5:40 pm…
Well, well, maybe June can recruit after all. Keep it strong the last few days.

1/27 is probably the fraction of last years season ticket holders that will be returning..

Hope next year's TV schedule is a bad one. My fear is more public floggings to incite the masses that want to watch a weekly train wreck. Curious if we'll revert all the way back to 0 wins?

"The masses" are pretty much the people posting on this board. Lack of TV games won't matter much on that front as they already want June's blood. Going winless would be really tough to do, though it would be an appropriate way to end the JJ era. Could even cause us to cut ties with him virtually no PR backlash.

The next coach has a real task on his hands. Our lack of talent and depth will take a few years of very good recruiting to overcome. Hopefully, the bullet points for the next coach are:

RECRUITING
RECRUITING
RECRUITING
Back off Warchild seriously.

How the hell can you wish for our TV schedule to be a bad one? Do not fear! This next year will be better!

Class now 73 and 85 (in avg stars per recruit). Gotta love that everyone prefers 2 stars with offers but when it all gets said and done that's the stat that matters. Just asking for balance. Ponyfans is like MSNBC sometimes. Oh and we're still in on Avery which means the class could get even better. And we haven't lost anyone. Cottrel had been replaced when he decommitted (Ngalo).

I think our point is that this type of recruiting effort should be a year-round thing, not just the week leading up to NSD.

+1

This is like the student who puts in no work during the semester and then goes begging the professor for extra credit saying he'll do whatever it takes to make it happen with a week left before finals (I should know - we can smell our own). We were given a gift and did fine on the last couple of quizzes, but unless JJ has a couple more players up his sleeve there isn't much depth here.
