Why are no local stations airing the baylor game?

Postby RunPeruna » Thu Sep 01, 2005 2:24 pm

Why will no local stations (WB, UPN, etc) pick up the game on saturday. Didn't one of the stations air a couple of the games last year? I think it would be a great start of the season to have the opener on tv. Oh well, just wishful thinking I guess.

home team controls TV-obviously they are hoping to see the smiling faces of all the arm-chair fans in seats at Ford.

I'm sure it's a cost thing. By the time SMU produced the game and bought the airtime on a local channel you'd be looking at a cost of around $40K. I watched the VB match last night on All-Access on-line and the feed was very smooth. I'll probably watch FB the same way...

Most of the peole interested in this game live close enough to go to the game (Our alums obviously, but I believe I am correct that more Baylor alums live in Dallas than an other individual area). Why televise when we want to sell tickets. Not many good excuses for not being there.
