Any Basketball Recruits Attending Today's Game?

Postby StandUp » Sat Feb 01, 2014 12:56 pm

Do we have any 2014 or 2015 Basketball Recruits attending today's game? I understand that we have quite a few Football Recruits who may be attending.

Miles turner I guess was at the osu game, which they lost and had plenty of "boo birds" at the end of the game.

Not recruits, but Sterling Moore and Cole Beasley were in the SMU student section.

Some big-time recruits in the 2015 class right there. Just wait for Louisville, the amount of football recruits are gonna be ridiculous on top of the basketball recruits. Apparently June's having a big weekend if you can believe that, at least two full rows are held back in a pretty good section.

LOVE that Okie State lost with Turner there today. Wish he were at Moody today instead but that's the next best thing.

Texas surging sucks for us. We need to take the hill and kick those whorns off it.

Yeah! Trying to figure out how Buckeye fans are so confident in getting Elijah Thomas for 2015. . . What I understand, SMU will be a tough "beat" to get Elijah's services. Hear that Elijah & LB/staff communicate on a daily basis

Bingo! Keno! (and I'm a southern cali guy).

You don't go to the midwest all other "things" being equal.

Honestly our class is pretty well set already. Obviously Matta would take him but I haven't heard much chatter there. We took Mickey Mitchell (his bro plays football) and then AJ Harris (Ohio 4* PG is committed). Probably two spots, maybe 3 left that are left for chasing some in-state guys and trying to keep them in state. Ohio is loaded in the 2015 and 2016 classes for 5* talents, strong years. We've got a good shot at landing 5* PF Carlton Bragg in that class who's basically the same player and Matta will probably poach Kennard or a kid in the Chicago area. If he's got those three, gives him a lot of flexibility in pursuing other guys and going "all-in."

Specifically Thomas, I've heard very pro SMU things on the AAU circuit and a couple weeks back. Usually that chatter holds true so my guess is that SMU is the team to beat given the amount of people that seem to think they lead.

I do know a few people in the athletic department. When you've worked in one or work in one, it is like a small fraternity where everyone crosses paths at a point. Obviously this is given off the record to me as staff can't say names to the public as it's a violation of NCAA rules but it's going to be a big weekend. They're in Section 209 I believe in case people are on the recruit watch. First couple rows. It's not really privy information or anything that I'm getting, just friends that have passed the word onto me as they know I have an interest in the program. A lot of the unofficial visits are moving parts too, so just because they've said they will attend doesn't mean they will. Undoubtedly 1/4 of those will be no-shows and there will be more added to the list as it gets closer. Quite frankly, I couldn't tell you one recruit's name although he listed a few for me that were the bigger fish, hard to follow 2015 football recruiting when 2014 NSD isn't even here yet, especially Texas where OSU offers maybe a dozen in the state every year.

Things like this which are openly talked about in athletic departments is the reason that those people can't bet money in the NCAA tournament or college sports because we supposedly have "inside info" that nobody else has. But if you talked to a few of the right boosters there, I'm sure they could fill in the blanks real quick haha.
