i really think we need to take attendance - and if someone is not using seats to at least __% of the games then they lose their seats for the next year. Time to get serious. we don't need their money if they aren't coming to the games.

You got people that are ready to pony up 5K on a donation? I'm sure the athletic department will take your call in a second if you do lol. Those people don't aren't everywhere, especially when the average fan didn't know the team would be performing at this level. I'll definitely give them a pass this year. Some of those guys/girls probably don't live in Dallas either if I had to put a bet on it. Can't make it to every game no different than Kansas, Duke, or UNC. But they got the money and money talks. Until they got 300 people lined up willing to donate that type of money, the athletic department doesn't hold the cards.

those seats don't require a 5k donation to the mustang club. If there is a line of people wanting them than replace the no shows. If not then we are stuck with them.

and i would send another email along the lines of:

Thanks! We greatly increased the percentage of used tickets in the red seat section this past home game with Memphis. However we remain under our goal of having all of those seats occupied. Please be aware that we are taking attendance, and non use of tickets will cause your season tickets to be subject to relocation in the following year. Attendance in these seats is a priority for us due to every home game being televised this year. Thanks for your effort. If you know you are not going to use you seats, please feel free to turn them back in so that we might redistribute them to fans who give a ____.

Sorry, the red lowers are a $2,500 donation. The loge seats are a 5K donation. You don't just tell those people to [deleted] up a rope. The athletic department needs the revenue so that they can renovate Moody for example, or make sure they Brown and his assistants are getting paid properly and in-line with other big time coaches so that they don't leave for a better paying job. It's not complicated.

As for the poster that suggested give the seats out to people that want to sit there for $700 dollars for the season and the people that want to donate can still donate. If you ran a used car business or whatever else and could get $3,200 for a car, why would you only take $700 just because the guy that offered $700 will drive the care more? That's ridiculous.

And people really play up the red seats too much, it's not that noticeable on TV nor do people outside of the serious fans ever notice on TV. For all I know, they could be in the bathroom or at the concessions for crying out loud. Money talks, I feel like people associated with SMU know this considering the success rate of the graduates. I know more than a few SMU grads that have done quite well for themselves.

I agree with this. The empty reds are only seen on TV during the pregame and halftime announcer talk. Easy to assume fans are at the concession stand. During the game, camera focuses on the student side so as long as they are there we are fine. From my personal viewpoint, I wish they were filled, but I appreciate the $2,500 per pair that is being donated more.

Looks like it was at the beginning portion of the game looking at the score.

I biatch as much as anyone about things but it's hard to complain about anything today. Easily the best crowd at an SMU sporting event since I've followed SMU. That was a big boy crowd.
