Actually. think think if a person let the people know in front of them that they had bad backs as could not stand very long that the people standing would understand and only stand at highly exciting moments in the game. Just a matter of how things are communicated. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: To the blue hairs...
Agreed. It's all bout how things are communicated. I'm in the second row of my section and the guy behind me had brought his grandpa who has been an smu fan for life but clearly isn't in shape to go to many games/stand. After my 6'4 self blocked his view a few times he kindly asked for me to not stand as much. I apologized and suggested that we switch seats so that we both can cheer and have a great time supporting our stangs. Bought me a drink to say thanks as well. If that situation was handled where someone is just yelling at me to sit down, I'm gonna tell them to shove it. You ask nicely and people are willing to be accommodating
Re: To the blue hairs...^ that right there is how these type of things should be handled

Re: To the blue hairs...
That's the real problem with college athletics and pro for that matter. People like you should have courtside seats and the people that are high donors should all sit in their own nice little section for away from the court lol. That would create and unbelievable atmosphere. I imagine it doesn't matter too much at Moody with the acoustics but I could only imagine what Rupp would really sound like if you didn't have all the corporate execs and suits sitting on the sidelines where you really make an impact. It's unbelievably awesome that SMU even let's students down by the court. If you think about how much money they lose with that policy, it's tremendous and they're doing it for the betterment of the program. Kudos to the AD.
Re: To the blue hairs...don't ever [deleted] sit down! I had the most annoying Memphis fans behind me telling me to sit down and I told em to make me! [deleted] em and #FeartheStangs

Re: To the blue hairs...Whoever said fans don't stand at other schools (believe it was CoxMustangFan) - you are sorely mistaken.
I live an hour from Tobacco Road. I've been to Cameron, Dean Dome, NCSU and Wake games. Most fans stand the entire game, unless you are on the upper levels at Dean dome. At Cameron , every fan stands up all game long. Stand up. Be loud. Support your team. This fan base is finally getting excited about games! Stand up!!
Re: To the blue hairs...
Sorry, but you should reread my posts before saying "I'm sorely mistaken". I said the lowers (esp the students) DO stand the whole game. It's rare for uppers and non-student sections to stand. We're talking about 214. Frankly, I don't care that much really. We're going to work our way to seats where this hopefully won't be an issue. I just have tremendous respect for the fans who have cheered for decades and I find it utterly appalling that you would tell those fans to cheer like they're at a rave or to F off and stay home. I'm looking forward to the day some [deleted] effeminate [deleted] tells me to stay home. Talking about excitement in the stands. Pony up!
Re: To the blue hairs...Dont stay home, just dont tell me to sit down. Im in 213 and the people that were in 214 were blocking my view if i wasnt standing. Fortunatley we have an awesome Jumbotron that airs the whole game and you can see it if even if everyone is standing. That was the most fun I had at any SMU event including UCONN. Half of the fun was because of the game and the other half was the atmosphere. We have a true home court advangtage and we will lose that if everyone starts golf clapping. Stand Up and Scream on and watch on the jumbotron if you have a bad back.
Re: To the blue hairs...
Agree--good point about the Jumbotron It makes sense to me.
Re: To the blue hairs...Didn't mean to call you out personally CMF. Yes, rare for uppers but not for non-students...at least not in the ACC. At Cameron, there aren't really any "uppers" like at other arenas. Every game I've been to, I see many old farts standing up and that's why it's so great.
I agree with you that there's no need to be rude- but you bought a ticket to a college sporting event. Why the heck would you expect people not to stand, cheer loudly or both?? I agree with other posters- if that is the case you should buy first row seats or just stay home. You can't control what people in front of you choose to do. Just like a concert or any sporting event. To tell people in front of you to sit down is something you are asking for, politely- not something to demand or expect. C'mon guys- this is fandom 101. You'd think some of our fans are buying tix to the symphony! Living in DC, I had skins season tix. I'd never ask anyone to sit down, even if I myself had a broken leg.
Re: To the blue hairs...
I dont care if you stand up in front of me or not. My point is that if you dont have to stand, and there is an elderly person behind you who can't, it is polite to sit when possible. Do you talk to people like this in the real world or do you call strangers "broski" and speak insultingly because you may do so anonymously on a bulletin board?
Re: To the blue hairs...You can ask someone in front of you nicely to maybe change seats, but it is their prerogative to switch or to sit/stand. It is a sporting event in which that person bought a ticket- they can choose to do whatever they like (within reason, of course).
