But considering Jankovich is the Assistant HC and HC in-waiting, doesn't that mean he's pretty important, at least to Brown? Anyways, I think you'll drive yourself nuts if you worry about coaches leaving. As long as the framework is there, you're in pretty good shape. Coaching trees are a huge, huge deal and something their very proud of. I'm sure Brown would love to continue to add to his. If it wasn't for the coaching tree he's built over the years, he wouldn't have some of the assistants on board at SMU that he does right now because they never would've came in the first place. IMO it's not worth it to get worked up over because even though you might lose a good coach, you bring in a better one with different ideas and Brown gets to continue to learn.
Trust me, we don't land Frazier or Mudiay without him. Just like Houston doesn't land House or Knowles without him. Jankovich is here because the SMU administration did not feel comfortable hiring Larry Brown without a head coach in waiting. As long as Brown stays a few years, he is not really needed. Don't get me wrong, he is an extremely valuable asset, but in terms of coaching we have everything we need with Brown. We need help with recruiting, which Maligi does for us in Texas. At the end of the day I don't worry about coaches leaving. I only worry about wins and losses. Keep winning and I won't sweat it.
Haha that's all I'm saying. If the program does well, you could be the one on the recruiting trail and SMU will be just fine. Winning cures a lot of problems I've heard in the past.
