It's all situational.
I think I stood when we got our 10th point and again at 20.
Oh, so you were the guy! That next game where Doherty gave up and Jalen essentially called the game was a lot of fun though, if a little reckless.

No. This was a huge game. We were putting on a clinic. Now, I will stand every minute of every game purely out of spite. Thanks for carrying SMU through the down years but you're no longer needed. Go watch from you couch because I will be standing and I will be loud.
So you are getting back at them by posting someplace where they will never read it, and under a username at that. What a tough guy.

Agreed. It's all bout how things are communicated. I'm in the second row of my section and the guy behind me had brought his grandpa who has been an smu fan for life but clearly isn't in shape to go to many games/stand. After my 6'4 self blocked his view a few times he kindly asked for me to not stand as much. I apologized and suggested that we switch seats so that we both can cheer and have a great time supporting our stangs. Bought me a drink to say thanks as well. If that situation was handled where someone is just yelling at me to sit down, I'm gonna tell them to shove it. You ask nicely and people are willing to be accommodating
That is one of the best ways to handle this.

Of course it is. You don't have to denigrate people who are aged or have physical limitations in order to have your "energy." Neither do you have to be condescending to people who have supported this program for years just because they believe that everyone who supports SMU should have enough class to show respect and courtesy for those who came before them.

we need to make everyone who supported the team for years when we were bad wear shirts that say that so we know not to sit in front of them. I sit in row 213 in row 7 and i aslo saw this guy yelling at the people in 214. He was the one that started it by yelling in a general direction for people to sit down. Then when he noticed that didnt do any good he walked to the aisle and started to yell at people to sit down. The irony of it was that his wife stood pretty much the whole time while he sat and pouted. Again I had a blast at the game along with my dad and he is older than dirt (sorry dad) and he stood the whole game yelling as loud as i was and im pretty sure he was a fan when we werent any good because he is older than dirt.

Hey. How about dropping the subject. Everyone do what you want and have fun. Not really worth arguing about.

Not so much an argument as it is proving a point. Home court atmosphere takes an arena. And sitting quietly in your seat doesn't do it.

There is always the reality that the blue hairs were supporting this program while many were waiting for a bandwagon to jump on

The good news is this happens at every program where people actually attend. Youth vs alums. It's takes that volatile line between the two, to create a hostile home arena.

Classy post. I saw Larry Brown ask someone 2-3 rows in front of him to sit down in section 104 of Ford at the (I think) A&M game a couple of years ago. I am glad you were not there to hear it or we might have lost him before he ever coached a game for us.

I assumed so, but jokes about shoving people down the stairs are not classy or funny. That was my point.
