This. Biggest part of the game, just went on a huge run....and then the mini cheerleaders come out. Bush league. I booed for a few seconds, not going to lie.

I cringed and made a run for the executive washroom.

When they came out I told my buddy that the board would explode. I am a bit ambivalent, but I get it. One thing that bothers me is following the run sheet no matter the situation. If we are making a run do something that keeps the crowd going, not a trivia question or the Mini Mustangs.

The gameday presentation is light years ahead of where it was but I hoped we had moved past the little cheerleaders. I get that it's a Park Cities group that probably includes the grand kids of a few big donors but we've got to get past that. We are getting to the point where the team is the selling point, not a group of kids running around during a timeout to sell a hundred more tickets to their parents. We are getting there but not quite yet. BTW, if we have to do something like that, do it during the UCF or USF game, not on a big night against a ranked team.

Attended a UALR basketball game last week. I have never been a strong advocate for the mini muffins, but after seeing the UALR halftime presentation, which I will not bore with details, I would prefer 100% muffins to 5 minutes of their show. Might just have to take it in stride. Lots of dollars from the muffin moms and dads and grand muffins.

Yeah - the roof was about to blow off the place and they bring out the freaking mini Mustangs.

I was livid.

If we must continue with the embarrassment of the mini cheerleader schtick, it should be done only at one the of the games in December when school is out and we are playing the Dallas Christians of the world.......

Sometimes the best timeout activity is nothing at all. Put a good song on and let the student get pumped up even more. Ride the wave of excitement.

a few years back SMU fans were going crazy after a run and they switched to the 'kiss cam'. killed the crowd's enthusiasm. I've seen 'fan cam' where the jumping up and down fans get on the camera and they continue to go wild. are you reading this Hart?

This.

And while I don't have the "Mini Mustang" hate that some of you do, I think they're best suited for the lower profile games. (Same with honoring donors or giving awards, with a few notable exceptions.)

Agreed. Game presentation is improve 100x over recent years though. Really exciting atmosphere. I've taken several people not affiliated with SMU to games at New Moody and they've loved it

Men's games no longer need mini mustangs to sell tickets. Perhaps we try them at the women's games.
