We need to increase our effort, but what do you expect him to say? This is equivalent to June (and most other coaches) saying later today that their recruiting class is their best ever.

He was committed to Louisville but their new coach does not use a fullback so they parted ways about a week or so ago. Other schools ran out of space for fullbacks. His coach called some programs and SMU just happened to be one. It came down to UTSA and SMU. So he picked SMU. “It was a spur of the moment thing. When I talked to the SMU coaches, they told me they saw my tape and were interested early on, but they didn’t think they had a chance at me because of my offers so they never got in contact with me,†Gresham said. “But with everything out of whack, they said they were definitely still interested in me.â€
Sounds like we are back to the Phil Bennett days: "Yeah, he's a good-looking recruit; we should go after him ... oh, wait, Texas and Bama on his list ... on to the next one ..."

Who knows how many true offers any kid gets. the college coaches don't call up the recruiting services. the kids or their coaches tell the reporters who report it as fact. A kid 5 years ago was reported as changing his fbcommitment to SMU because he wanted to play baseball there. And that was by Dave Campbells website!
