SID, serious questionWhy hasn't Ira's number been retired? Not blaming you but there has to be a reason. He is beyond deserving. Can we undo a wrong and make that happen? Halftime of the Louisville game maybe?

Re: SID, serious question
This man speaks the truth.
Re: SID, serious questionThat'd be awesome if it could happen! Ira is definitely a class act and represents SMU well, especially throughout the metroplex.
Re: SID, serious questionIra Terrell is "the Deal". He was in my Class ( '76). He is the perfect definition of a PERSON/PLAYER that would have his Number retired!!!
Re: SID, serious questionHear hear....wtF? If ANYone deserves to be in the rafters, its him....this is ridiculous.
Re: SID, serious questionEmailing Rick Hart with words of support for Ira helps.

Re: SID, serious questionwaaaaay past due. Starting to make us look bad.
Re: SID, serious questionThis quite possibly will be the one thread on this board where everyone agrees. Ira is more than deserving and has always been and continues to be the perfect ambassador for our school. Lets get this done ASAP.
Re: SID, serious questionNot just a perfect ambassador, a damn good player too.
Re: SID, serious questionI did not watch him play and am a fan of his so no disrespect meant. Just a question, would North Carolina retire his number? If yes, then he should undoubtedly have his number in the rafters if not, then we simply need to raise our level of achievement.
Re: SID, serious question
Not just yes, but &%*$ YES! IT is one of the three greatest players in SMU history, along with Jim Krebs and Gene Phillips. Played three years and was All SWC each year and SWC player of the year in 1976. Only SMU player to average a double-double each of three years. Average PPG over career second only to Gene Phillips. He was better than Jon Koncak, who already has had his number retired.
Re: SID, serious questionI watched him as a kid, the man could flat out play. Maybe due to his suspension during his junior year is the reason, which IMO was ridicules. I sure hope that is not the reason his number has not been retired. This is long past due and SMU needs to honor I.T. and retire his jersey!
Here is a nice article about Ira Terrell written in 2010. http://www.cusa-fans.com/articles/2009- ... 32110.html Here is a blurb from the article. "A svelte 6-8, 205-pound center, Terrell (I.T., as he’s known) averaged 24 points and 13.5 rebounds per game. He’s the only player in school history to average a season double-double three times. " GO MUSTANGS!
