Re: Metroplex HS coaches say SMU needs to do better in recruStraight from the high school coaches.

Re: Metroplex HS coaches say SMU needs to do better in recruIMO you can take that article (good one by the way) and look at it as a glass half full or empty, depending on what you want to find and look for … and that goes for more than just SMU in that article. We all know SMU needs to step up local efforts (they have, but more would be nice), interesting that they also noted Texas and T-Tech in that category. I know a couple HS coaches that were interviewed for that piece, their point on SMU was … it’s not the old day’s … the kids know about them, and what they have done the last few years so now they have interest vs. the past … SMU needs to capitalize on that … they are a better sell then they think right now.
Also of interest was their comments on the various rating sites and how fickle the process can be (The kid no one wanted then OU shows interest, and all of a sudden he is a stud), and the comment that a lot of guys are good recruiters but not good evaluators of talent. The one comment about a kid that was equal to if not better then a kid with multi offers, yet this kid had zero. HS coaches know there kids. For a lot of these HC’s, they get the benefit to see them grow and develop as a player and person starting 7th grade. They know who has topped out, and who is just hitting their stride. Not agreeing with or disagreeing with what I’m about say … I know it’s a hot debate. But, for these reasons and others, you will find that a lot (not all) of HS coaches are not big fans/supporters of the Stars, or who and how many offers do you have system.
Re: Metroplex HS coaches say SMU needs to do better in recruI agree-the high school coaches do KNOW-they know about their Sophs, Juniors and Seniors. I'd like SMU Coaches to LEARN what they KNOW FIRST

Amen!!
Re: Metroplex HS coaches say SMU needs to do better in recru
I think you are full of it. 3. What coaches/programs have been the most difficult to deal with? 1. North Texas 2. SMU, Kansas " I feel that they are in the middle of the most talented football area in the country and should have great relationships with every single high school in DFW, but it does not seem like they do. I do not know where they focus their energy recruiting, but I think more of it should be focused right in their own back yard.†(SMU, North Texas) Last edited by Rebel10 on Thu Feb 06, 2014 4:12 pm, edited 2 times in total.

I think you are correct. #HammerDown
Re: Metroplex HS coaches say SMU needs to do better in recruthat's exactly what Adrian Klemm said in the LA Times article except he wants to find out when they are freshman in high school. Almost creepy-but Larry Brown does the same thing

Re: Metroplex HS coaches say SMU needs to do better in recruWell if you get the flow of what I was referring to (Local recruiting, or lack of) ... the last question #16 ... "programs that need to step up their recruiting game", they included Texas, T-Tech and NTSU in that list. I was surprised to see Texas and T-Tech ... not full of it, it is stated.
Nice props to SMU in question 1 and 2 ... and then the one you reference #3 ... certainly not good (hard to communicate and contact ... not good, but they usually know about a kid if he can play at their level ... need to work their backyard). But, 3 leads to 4 .. an other programs get detailed in not a very faltering way. IMO, you can glass half full or empty the article ... and for more then just SMU
Re: Metroplex HS coaches say SMU needs to do better in recruI think with Texas they may be talking about the Junior Days recruiting system. They were probably relying too much on getting the guys they thought were the Top prospects to Austin and then getting 15-18 commits before the end of February. Only about 30 select recruits would be invited. Kind of pissed a lot of recruits off who weren't "selected" to attend. It worked spectacularly for almost a decade. It revolutionized Texas recruiting. Now other teams are probably outworking them. They aren't waiting for UT to take the crème of the crop

Re: Metroplex HS coaches say SMU needs to do better in recruJune: Not only do our fans, students, alumni, local community, Rivals, the DMN, WFAA, ESPN, Scout and 247 agree that your recruiting efforts are non existent...DFW HIGH SCHOOL COACHES agree on this too. This whole "Dallas is SEC country" is on us for our lack of recruiting and winning on the field. Get off your butt and start grabbing these high caliber kids, let's field a team that will win 10 or more games per season...and then let's see if Dallas is SEC country.
Re: MetroplexHS coaches say SMU needs to do better in recruiWe're sitting on a frickin' gold mine and no one's home. Idiotic.
Re: MetroplexHS coaches say SMU needs to do better in recruiHow insulting to Dallas talent that SMU can't be botgered to ecen recruit them properly. For the southern sector that has been ignored by the Dallas elites for decades it is just another reason for them to hate us and our HP crowd. If not for Larry Brown we would need 10 years to undo the June damage!
