What's my point? I wasn't necessarily trying to make a point but I am amused by the number of vitriolic responses I have provoked by saying something positive about two-star recruits.

so I guess the point is that JJ & his staff have been finding 3-5 guys every year who can compete with the better teams on our schedule. That's great, but not enough guys to even constitute a starting offense and defense. I guess that helps explain all those blowouts

I will say that since June's vacation tour ended, SMU Coaches have been spotted at Cedar Hill, oh I'm forgetting the others but about 4-5 of the Top High schools in DFW. I think probably the discussions with the AD have injected some "motivation" to the staff. I don't know for sure. We'll see. The real period SMU's efforts just plain sucked was immediately after last year's Junior Day. We had plenty of Top 100 kids there-and they expressed interest. Time after time there were reports of no follow-up

I don't understand why this is such a hard concept for people to understand. Maybe we should start pointing out all the 2 stars recruits who do absolutely nothing whatsoever to balance out they "hey but this guy made it to the nfl and he was only a 2 star!"

I'm so glad they put forth effort during the last week of the recruiting season /sarcasm. Fire June and staff now. 100% focus on basketball until these clowns are gone.

June, if you can turn two star recruits into a winning team ( like you claim you can), then I fully support your lack of intense recruiting. Until then, 2 star recruits and 5-7 seasons are not cutting it

I remember when Jones first became our coach and he mentioned one of the things he was most excited about was having access to the quality of athletes we have in this area as opposed to being isolated on the island. He should figure out a way to be excited about that again. If he can coach a bunch of 2 and 3 stars into the NFL, what could he do with 3 and 4 stars?

Getting people to the NFL and having a good team obviously doesn't always mix. If we had all those players get to the NFL but other teams that have gotten less players to the NFL but have won conference championships that is not necessarily good coaching for the SMU team as a whole. Larry Brown is trying to get the focus off individuals getting to the NBA and get the focus on the team trying to win a national championship.
