Not to mention SEC teams annually playing regular season games at Jerryworld. The SEC wants to make its imprint in Texas and it's doing it. The only smart thing A&M has ever done is join the SEC and damn it's looking like a shrewd move. Compare A&M and Texas' recruiting class this year and tell me which conference Texas kids want to play for these days

The Big 12 would beg to differ, now if you said Houston you may have a point.

Not saying the Big 12 doesn't have a massive footprint here, but the SEC is certainly making inroads. Can't remember where I read it (still drunk from the basketball game) but I saw somewhere that Dallas is one of the SEC's top TV markets today. That's astounding until you really think about all of the SEC alumni living in Dallas today.

Umm, didn't we hire RGT from Ole Miss?

Arkansas presence in DFW<<<< Ou's
Lsu's< OSU or at worst on par
A&M's<<<Big 12 TX schools

You can argue houston but DFW is not more SEC than B12.

They also signed the nation's top QB for 2014. Hate on A&M all you want, but they're the premiere program in Texas right now and it isn't close. If you don't believe me, check the most recent recruiting rankings.

The whole "The state of Texas is SEC country!!" chant was coming, regardless. Frankly, that call was probably directed more at UT than anybody, but nonetheless it's a problem for us - A&M going to the SEC was bad for every school in Texas unless it resulted in moving up conference-wise; i.e. TCU. I wouldn't be surprised if the competition for kids that we may be interested in has gotten more competitive - if I was an Ole Miss, Vandy, or Mississippi State recruiter I would be running towards DFW.

That's all true but they don't have much in the way of championships to show for it. Bevo will be better off in the long run because they don't have to deal with the bloodbath that is the SEC West.

What the Aggies say and think didn't matter when I was in school and doesn't now. Some rich A&M alum bought a billboard in Dallas when they went to the SEC, and there was a story going around that they bought a billboard in the town of every opponent that year. Money wasted, if you ask me. There's only one school in Dallas (DFW, really, because TCU and UNT and UTA don't matter) no matter what the buzzcuts in vinyl boots say.

Clever. How many kids will want to see their photos up on a billboard next year? WE will se how it goes. They can have the third best recruiting class in the country but if they are always behind Alabama, LSU and others in the SEC they will eventually follow Arkansas lead. Let em have their day..albeit middle of the pack in the SEC. Those guys may be good transfer prospects in a coupl of years.
