You are "all man". Get over yourself. I was just trying to understand how other basketball programs go about retiring basketball jerseys. Again no disrespect to Ira Terrell. He sounds like he was a tremendous basketball player, a quality, quality man and a true ambassador for SMU. Thank you Ira Terrell for representing SMU with talent, class and dignity.

As pointed out earlier, Don Meredith had his jersey retired and it was over 37 years.

As I have said many times, it's down right embarrasing his number is not hanging from the rafters. Top 3 Mustang baller/ambassador for the school/overall top-notch human being.

oh, how juvenile we are now, attacking someone's name… my name Kris is partly from my German heritage and the fact that my mom was a Kris Kristofferson fan way back when( a very manly man indeed!) … Not that I need to defend myself to you.

and BTW, you should see my posts before I edited them, originally I took the insults toward you A LOT further, but then thought better of it.

Just to answer this question from the perspective of a Cincinnati fan, our school requires a player to be selected National Player of the Year. We have had some great players, including 29 All-Americans, but only have 3 jerseys retired. Oscar Robertson, Jack Twyman, and Kenyon Martin. Two of those guys are in the Basketball HoF.
Steve Logan was a 2 time CUSA PoY, was a consensus All-American, and a finalist for every National PoY award, but does not have his jersey on the wall because he was runner-up to Jason Williams for all the National PoY awards.

Welcome to our board cinci. Looking forward to beating that [deleted] on Saturday

Kris really sorry that you got your feelings hurt. Your Mom and I will be over shortly to wipe away your tears. Go ahead and get ready for bed, remember to brush your teeth. Your Mom and I will tuck you in. We will play Kris Kristofferson's "Sail Away" for you. We know that is your favorite song. You should sleep good tonight.

Can we all agree that all of these personal attacks are getting a little ridiculous? Be careful what you ask for Kris. I don't understand the tone that posters like you and others take. It is ok for you to question my man card when I ask a couple of legitimate basketball questions. Look in the mirror, you don't take the high road, you asked for it. All of it is childish. When I make a joke about the "feminine" flavor of the spelling of your name you get your feelings hurt. You can't have it both ways. Here is to hoping that the pointless personal attacks stop. Let's get back to talking about basketball. Go Mustangs! Beat Cincy!

Isn't it funny how an unbiased Cincy fan can chime in on this thread and basically point out that many really good Cincy basketball players have not had their jersey's retired because they were not National Players of the Year. That was my point. Cincy is not even typically known to be a Basketball School and they have higher standards. No doubt that Ira Terrell was a great player at SMU, but double doubles and All Conference Players are not the same as Player of the Year honors or even National Championships. We at SMU need to raise the bar.

Oh and BTW, Kris you are a class act. You tell me... "that I should have seen your posts before you edited them, you originally took your insults to me A LOT further, but then thought better of it." Thanks for taking the high road. Way to keep it classy. You don't want me saying anything about your name, but "you originally took your insults A LOT further". Time to grow up.

I haven't seen FTHP post to much lately. I wonder if he could be posting under another name.

UHHH, Dude, you're confusing Kris Kristofferson with Christopher Cross !…. and Yes Christopher Cross goes into the Leo Sayer category of soft rock douchery!! :) :)

and no my feelings were not hurt, don't know what gave you that impression, just gave you a little context…

and yes, I did take the high road in not insulting you directly as I originally did before I edited it… my man card reference was to the "REALLY?" "REALLY" part of your response… I, as many others, equate that kind of speech pattern as very girlish, just like the use of OMG, LOL, IDK, etc, just very girlish stuff... Don't worry, it's not so much you as the young texting generation in general that use these overused phrases… So much get's lost in translation...So yes, I was taking a little shot, but at your style, not so much at you personally. You do make it hard to resist, you know?

so, seriously, I am not throwing out hate, just a little jab at you, that's all… but like others stated, if you saw I.T. play, there would be no questioning his worthiness.

And Standup, I really do appreciate your enthusiasm !! I am sure you are a nice guy.

Hey Subflea, that is a really high bar they have at Cincy. Is that their actual policy or does it just appear that is the policy by the fact that they are CPOY ?

and good luck this season... except vs SMU !

Kris, no hard feelings. I was just throwing jabs too. Turning the page. I get tired of all the hate that is all over this board. It is exhausting. See Rebel10's earlier comment. I get the same reactions with any post that I make. Never gets old :) Oh well. Maybe if I saw IT play in person I would have a different opinion. Hopefully we can find a way to stop Cincy's Kilpatrick tomorrow. Go Mustangs! Beat Cincy!

I read the board every now and then, but I am de facto retired. It took some time for me to realize that I am tired of being called a troll, so I'm probably done for good.
