1st Game in 8 years

Postby OC Mustang » Sun Sep 04, 2005 2:55 am

Despite the loss, I made my first game in 8 years...wow, what a stadium. Cosy & collegiate. Missed the Blvd...would have liked to experience that.
Saw Bennett's brother (Irving High School, right?) in the stands. He was pretty bummed at the end too.

My only armchair QB-ing is to say that we should have punted early in the 2nd half instead of going for it.

Mustangs35SMU...I went and sat with Andy and Sam K. Met your cousin Ashley (I think that is her name...ugh...sorry). They came down to the front row and visited with all of us. I heard you went to the Longview game...nice win for you all in Louisiana.

Did anyone notice the irony in BU's band played a Queen tune that was originally a tribute to the gay rights movement? Talk about coming out of the closet. I wouldn't say that, but the next tune was something about "...loving someone...."

Guys, I know the loss is a bum, but I haven't seen a live game in a long time. I wish it was a win, but I was happy to be there.

G'night.

Ford Stadium is really a very nice place to watch a game. I really like the brick walls around the field. I wish Floyd Casey had something like that. And it didn't look like that was a bad seat in the house.

The concession workers couldn't have been more incompetent, though...

Good deal! I'll be there next week for sure. Believe we're spending the night after the Lake Highlands game. What Im going to do all day till 8 pm I dont know but I'll find something.

Im actually surprised Ashley went. I couldnt tell you the last time my Aunt and all three of my cousins were there (Ashley is the only one who goes to SMU right now, one goes to Kilgore College, and the other one is a Sophomore at Spring Hill but they were up in the press box).

But yea they'll all be there next week again. We were getting updates through out the game. I literally just sat on the phone for most of the 4th quarter trying to figure out what was going on and watching the Lobo game at the same time.

Longview looked very good againist #1 West Monroe. 21-0 over Louisiana's Class 5A #1 team is definately something to be proud of but a lot of us were PO'ed big time at the refs. Could easily of been 42-0, 49-0, 56-0. I know we had 3 touchdowns called back. But we dominated the game easily.

I know there is some Lake Highland fans on here but man. We better not over look you guys, and Im not expecting us to but man. If we come playing like we're supposed to, I feel bad for anyone who has to sit there through it, including myself. OO Well a win is a win. Won our 8th straight over a Louisiana team. And if we win our next two, we'll go 4-0 to straight the year for the fourth consecutive year.

LH VS. Longview is kind of like SMU/TCU.... I would give a kidney to win but it's just not gonna happen this year. Longview is loaded this year.

Thanks -- we love the stadium, too. And you're right about the concessions crew.

Also at the game: Dat Nguyen, who played for Coach Bennett at A&M, and QB commit Zac Rhoades. He looks more impressive in person than he does on the recruiting sites. I walked right past him, and I bet he's within a whisker of 6'2", and he looks pretty strong. Impressive looking kid.
