Great post.

When I was a very young kid, my father introduced me to Bill Hart, the Center on the SMU football team. He was so nice and gracious and seemed generally pleased that I was already a huge SMU fan. That has made a lasting impression on me.

@SoCal

Good story. For those that have kids, you should bring them to every game and build great memories. Whether they attend SMU or not, chances are they'll always be a Mustang fan at heart.

Needs to be sent to Brown. They'd appreciate it and he would take the to read it. Always good to let people know. It'd be a shame if they stopped it next year. Real cool n unique tradition.

Email sent, along with a great pic of her and Markus Kennedy.

That's really cool. I'd never heard of a team sticking around after games especially to interact with fans before SMU this year (not sure if they did it last year as well). These guys do it after every game, granted they've all been wins so far haha, but a great gesture nonetheless. I know it would've made my day when I was 10 to get to interact with my favorite college bball players so I can only imagine, I wouldn't even be surprised to see you get a note back from Coach Brown. But hopefully they keep that little tradition around because I think it's hands down one of the better ones in college bball.

When my son was young, I took him to Fayettevile, AR to see our DickerJames team play Arkansas. We beat them of course, and afterwards on the field Craig James very graciously posed for a picture with my son and engaged him in a really personal way. That photo hangs on the wall at my home and is one reason my son went to SMU.
Long live Inez Perez!

In 1981 I was in Junior High and we were in Fayetteville for the SMU fball game. I saw Ron Meyer on the sideline, I went up to him and asked him for an autograph on the ticket stub (still have it), he autographed it and talked to me for about 5 minutes - I knew then and there I was a Mustang for life. These guys can make lasting impressions!

I was not a fan of storming the court, I agree with LB, we should expect to win all our games. But bottom line is that if it continues to galvanize the students, then go for it. Keep this home court advantage going!

Good point. Baylor is a great example. Alumni in their late 20's sound remarkably different than current students. It's a vintage year issue for sure.

You served that one right down the middle of the plate. I'm going to let SMU get a little more in the trophy case before I wheel on that one! :D
