meanwhile..lost in all of our wallowing in self pity is that Baylor should be congratulated for starting their season with a win. The best thing about two bad teams playing each other is that one of them gets a win. Baylor set their schedule up hoping for 3 wins and I hope they go on and get them...along with a couple of Big XII wins as well. I always want our opponents to do well because it gives me hope that maybe we aren't as bad as I fear right now.

We can be good losers even to Baylor

Postby Sam I Am » Sun Sep 04, 2005 2:12 pm

Yep, we can at least learn to be good losers until our fortunes ever improve. You always want the team that beats you to have more success because you look even worse if you have lost to a bad team. We have changed our NC schedule (just like Baylor has done) to get easier NC teams. We may not get better but our record will improve.

if a tree falls in the forrest will anybody hear it. The SMU/Baylor rivalry is everything College Football is about. Great pre-game festivities, a 80 year rivalry, a packed house, a competitive game, similiar school missions and prestige-if SMU's future is to whup up on Sam Houston State Monument, Texas State Peneteniary, and Stephen F. Austin State Park then I'm not sure I want to be a part of that. SMU needs to do anything and everything to make sure this rivalry continues.

After the performance I saw last night, each of the Div. 1-AA teams you have mentioned could have beaten SMU. Soundly.

GunPeruna, i am also looking forward to 10/29/05-it is my little brother's birthday. We plan on celebrating with a Homecoming win over Texas Tech. Cheers! :D

OMG! You're right! What was I thinking? Now that I've sobered up I will say this: Texas State sucks. SMU's performance last night might have tied the Bobkitties. Sam Houston and SFA would have both defeated SMU last night. Soundly.

Baylor fans are 10 times the fans of Texas Tech. They are welcome to the stadium anytime; this board, maybe not. Generally, they were polite and respectful and enthusiastic and positive. There was one A-hole on the blocked kick that shouted "That's SMU football!" and "Let the blowout begin!" He got a odd look from me and my friends. Of course, the SMU interception that followed got a few laughs and we were exceedingly obnoxious. At the end of the day, it was clear we were all fans of bad football teams and it was all in good fun.

I really enjoyed my time at your stadium. Had a great time. It seems the SMU fans are about as sarcastic about their teams as Baylor fans are.

Thank you all for being good hosts for us. I didn't have a single incident myself and the only problem I saw was quickly taken care of by the SMU PD.

I agree that the Baylor fans were most pleasant and polite. I enjoyed visiting wih them. I would certainly welcome them back. It was fun to revisit the good old days of the SWC. Good luck to Baylor for the rest of the season (and I wouldn't say that to the Tech).
