Difficult read when you are reminded of things like the blue mustang and the navy blue helmets. :)

We need to go back to the wide stripes.

I have to admit. I really like the blue helmets. Looked sharp with the road whites.

That 2003 model w/o the white lining around the pony is just disgusting. And we all complain about June and his fetish for black, but those helmets are just gawdawful.

I liked those blue helmets as well.

That's a nice compendium of SMU's many looks over the decades.

And that June Jones brought back a tradition, a fact often forgotten.

It's never been about the length, it's the association with The Pony Express.

We have obviously been red for the majority of our football existence.

White shells for 33 years (37 years minus the 4 years of blue shells) strikes me as pretty much long enough to be called a tradition. 8)
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

My preference is white shell with red pony. I don't mind the royal blue pony. Never go back to Navy shells…

and I really liked them bringing back the Chuck H. Jerry L. Red helmet white pony last year. Nice change up.
