His passing abilities are the first thing I noticed. Dunks only impress me so much because I'd expect a guy thats 6'7" to be able to throw it down. His passing and body control stands out really well. If we have a shot at Mickey then I hope like hell we capitalize on it because hes a hell of an athlete. What I do like about Hogg though over Mickey is his 3 point shooting. At his height, his long range capabilities make him very valuable.OhioBrownFan wrote:Watch em in the summer on the circuit. I've seen them both as well at various tournaments, Hogg is more athletic no doubt. Better all-around basketball player is Mitchell though. He's a match-up nightmare at the next level, can't guard somebody that's 6'7 and handles the ball like he does. And he can play inside and out.gostangs wrote:I've seen them both play. They're both great players, can't go wrong with either. But it's not hard to see why Mickey was the #1 recruit in the nation at one point in time. For Ohio State's sake, I hope like hell you don't have a chance at him, nor anyone else
But if he's going anywhere, I guess SMU is a good consolation for me

Definitely appreciate your input. Have to say...you're making it hard for me to cheer against Ohio State.OhioBrownFan wrote:They're both great players, can't go wrong with either. When I saw his first highlight tape I was hoping like hell that hed give us a shot. Definitely impressive and the type of athlete youd want on your team. He seems like someone that you could get multiple years out of, you said you know his family, do you think he'd be a one and done if given the chance to go pro?

Well, for one he'd have to be a lottery pick for it to be a serious consideration. Two, NBA scouts would have to evaluate the knee and what risk they're willing to take. As for him, and both those situations are given the green light, I would say on the record, no. Off the record, yes. Anytime you grade out high, you have to really consider it. You can come back and finish your degree anytime. You may only get one chance to sign a contract that will take care of you and your family for life. I know the old guys roll their eyes at this notion, but it's the best decision for the individual and in their best interest. I think he'd be torn, he'd have to really enjoy his college experience, so I'd say there's a chance of him sticking around more than a year or two. Logically, I don't think he would but he's the type that would stay if there was one.CenTXpony wrote:Definitely appreciate your input. As for the Ohio State comment, no worries haha, plenty of a holes in our fan base as with any. Lot of good Ohio State fans out there but we tend to think our [deleted] doesn't stink just as any fan base does when times are good, so I completely understand. All it takes is a few people to ruin the perception of all.

Thanks for your insight. Really hope he goes where is best for him an certainly agree with you on fan bases! Best of luck with your bucks moving forward, unless we meet up in the tourney!OhioBrownFan wrote:Well, for one he'd have to be a lottery pick for it to be a serious consideration. Re: Mickey Mitchell
OBF, thanks for all your insight on Mickey. Watched his second video and really cannot get over his balance, court awareness and ability to attack the rim under control for his size. He plays unselfish getting teammates involved. At 6'7" his ability to see other players and dish "on time" is unheard of. He always seems to play under control. I guess the obvious comparison would be Jason Williams, but after watching the second video I am kind of thinking that his game reminds me of a mix between Jason Williams and Penny Hardaway (when he was at Memphis). You are completely right, I can imagine that Mickey would be a matchup nightmare.

Plano West's roster is just plain sick. If all those kids were playing together it would be so much fun to watch. The potential of all of them playing together @ SMU is beyond exciting. I recently saw Hogg & came away extremely impressed.
He is the total package. Mitchell is a Sports Center top 10 highlight reel. Reminds me of Pistol Pete, & a little Magic Johnson swag. Very entertaining to watch.

Mickey and his brother would be able to do great things at SMU. Hope they come here and make history! Go 'Stangs!

This thread needs to be in the recruiting forum.

Very impressive, OBF. His court vision is uncanny and his ability to pass the ball for someone his size reminds me of Chris Mullin. He's very athletic around the rim. Question, is the clip you posted pre injury?

Re: Mickey Mitchell
Yeah, those are his sophomore highlights haha. Apparently he's playing much better now than pre-injury from nearly every analyst I talk to. He's just tearing it up this year. I highly recommend seeing him if it's not a far haul for people. Just fun to watch if you enjoy basketball in the slightest. Obviously those are highlights, so I think people get under the impression these kids don't make bad plays. But if you want to see what a kid looks like pre-college that should be a top 10 recruit, he's worth it.LA_Mustang wrote:Very impressive, OBF. To the above poster who said Pistol Pete and Magic, definitely makes Magic-type passes, unreal ability to see the floor for a guy his size. Really a fun player to watch from the unselfish standpoint. Type of player that brings every single teammates' game up. And I appreciate the words from people. I'm a little biased since he's a Buck, but I'm pretty critical all-around so I don't think I'm giving much of a slant. I'll be the first to tell you that David Bell will not see the floor at Ohio State and have no idea why Matta offered him other than we desperately need bigs. Guy has hands of stone, one move, can't jump, not athletic, weak in the post and can't shoot. So I don't just say a player is good for the hell of it if people question if I'm saying something because he's a Buckeye commit. He's a great player and will be a great college player whether it's Ohio State or Florida International.

Re: Mickey Mitchell
Is he still playing for Plano West? I've looked at the last few box scores and he is not listed.

Re: Mickey Mitchell
Back injury is why you're not seeing it. He's been in and out, I haven't kept tabs on him lately, been so busy with work and stuff. But he was having minor back issues that he tweaked earlier in the year. That's probably the reason.LA_Mustang wrote:Is he still playing for Plano West?
