Well, it looks like the program has finally hit Rock Bottom, or at least the fans on this board have. In two weeks it's entirely possible and probable the program will hit a new low. Even the hard core "Sunshiner's" on this board are fed up and I'm glad to see it. I don't know if it will do any good or will cause any changes, but with the exception of one or two posters it looks like the majority of the fans here have jumped off this long sinking ship or at the very least have both feet over the railing and are at the ready to jump.
I've been following SMU since '98, became a fan my freshman year in 2000 and have experienced nothing but losing since. I don't know if it's worse for me or most of the fans here that experienced the greatness this program once embodied. In my opinion it's worse for me. Most of you had a nationally ranked program to be proud of during your days at SMU or at some point thereafter. As I watch the FSU Miami game, I really wished I decided not to go to SMU. I loved my time at the school, but I believe a strong athletic program is key to a well rounded collegiate experience (and I'm not talking about a strong Soccer and Swimming program Copeland!). I chose SMU over USC (grew up in California), whereas if I went to 'SC I would have two National Championships under my belt.
It seems the only thing that can save this sorry excuse for a D-1 program is a big donor demanding that heads roll and fundamental changes be made and then backing it up with the cash to compete with the BCS bastards. If I had the money I would be that person, but alas I don't enjoy the riches it would take. If I'm ever fortunate enough to amass a fortune that could get things done, I would step up. I'm afraid if that ever happens it will be too late.
