back to the original post.. I agree our fans are pathetic for the most part.
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.
South Carolina has been the doormat of the SEC for years, their fans show up. Kentucky has been dormant for years, their fans show up in droves. Duke has been as bad as us for years, but their fans show up for games and cheer loudly as evidenced by the game I watched against East Carolina on Saturday. Army has been pathetic, yet Cadets cheer their hearts out. Losing hurts and is demoralizing. But SMU is our alma mater, we need to support our future alums who are on the field playing their hearts out. A loud crowd can turn a game around. That's why the Aggies (Sheep lovers) have that 12th man cult thing going. When we decide its more important to support our fellow students, then we might have a chance. Which brings me to a pet peeve of sorts. I remember when I was at SMU, we had a freshman dance. Since the freshmen football players were in athletic dorms, they had not been included in the planning. The football players are students, too, and need to be included in every day activities of the University. When they become friends of their fellow students, then students become more invested in their success.
Enough of this arguing about the SMU coed's dress code. I say if you see someone who you think is dressed inappropriately, ie. scantily clad, take a picture and post here so we can all be the judge.
If not posted here, how about the "Babe of the Day" thread on this board. PS. If you need an immediate personal evaluation on the Boulevard, send me a personal message and I will give you my cell phone number. I can make it anywhere for a viewing on a moment's notice.

DC, count me in the idiot crowd. I became an SMU fan at the age of 6 when my parents took me to a Baylor-SMU game. I loved watching Peruna running across the field. I graduated from SMU, and have attended a few hundred sporting events due to my loyalty. Losing perpetuates poor fan responses. We never had a fervent fan base even when we were winning, but people who attend SMU do not expect to lose at anything, either on the field or in the business world. We are losing the youth in following SMU. My nine year old son hates to go to the games. He will also not wear his SMU caps or shirts to school. Things have to change. If not, we are merely sweeping back the ocean with a broom, and the inevitable will occur. Things will only get worse.
Again...who the hell schedules a wedding during football season? ![]() ![]()
