That said I can't imagine smu is an attractive place for a top level big man who wants to be a 1 and done player. Next year we have 3 big men coming back, 1 score 1 defensive player and 1 solid back up. LB only let's you play if you play strong fundamental defense, freshman will be a step down on the practice court and not likely to see starting minutes until at the very least the end of the year with the players in front of him.
This. Especially the comments on Embid. I still say let's go all out and do everything we can to get him . . . Moody Magic can create incredible things . . . just sayin'.

Turners dad said early in the process when they named schools and did not include SMU that they wanted to wait and see a game at Moody. I do not know if we have a chance but between Mudiay and a sellout crowd, I think he will be impressed. You never know what may happen but this is right on track with what the family has said from the beginning.

When is signing date for basketball? Is there a date that we expect players to make final commit?

I wonder how much Okla St's recent woes have played into this...
I believe his list is Arizona, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, and Texas. SMU is kind of a "dark horse", but it's obvious we have a shot. Turner hasn't said so, but I think Duke is gonna be out because of Okafor. Kansas would be out if Embiid stays, but he'll probably still go unless things get worse. I don't have any idea how the schools might be "ranked" by Turner right now, but I think OhioBrownFan said he liked Ohio State's chances. Myles is a smart kid and is playing his cards tight. It'll probably still be a while and I think the best thing SMU can do is stay in touch and keep winning. Mudiay's overtures can't hurt either.
I have. It's a three-team race TODAY. Key word being today. I believe Ohio State has survived Okie State's bullet and remain the leader. It's really down to tOSU, Okie State and Texas as it stands at the moment and probably in that order. Kansas is out regardless, as is Duke, so is Kentucky. He can list all the schools he wants, those schools also have to take him. Very unlikely he ends up in Duke, UK, or KU's classes.

It has already passed, I believe he can sign any day he wants now. Just a matter of him finding his "place."

He hasn't experienced Moody Magic yet though. Crazy things happen at that special place.

No there is a spring signing date-seems like mid-March-but in basketball the remaining kids don't always all sign on the 2nd signing date-they generally trickle in over a couple of months

Lob city baby.
In previous years, that would have been true, but with all of our remaining games sold out this game is just as good if not better. Who wouldn't attract a near capacity crowd for a game agains the defending national champions? Having a capacity crowd agains Houston, on the other hand, is a more impressive accomplishment. I wish both SMU and Houston fans saw it as a big rivalry game, but we don't and Houston is not a marquee opponent this season. It just cements the fact that if he comes here he will be playing in front of great crowds just like at Cameron Indoor or any other venue for that matter.
Coog high is a rivalry, personally I might hate them more than TCU...well almost. I want to hang 90 on those suckers.

We have to take things in context. SMU was not in his top 7 schools at the start. He did not expect much from SMU this year. Fast forward and 3 of his top 7 are falling. Along with the Mudiay signing, SMU is having a great season, in the rankings, getting national multi-sport attention, and is arguably the hottest basketball team in the nation (regarding trending).
If I am a recruit, this is exactly the stream of events that would make me consider. I think if anything we have shocked him with our performance.
