Anybody else having problems with the site? Shows scheduled temporary maintenance. But, it's been like that since yesterday afternoon

They are updating their sites. Should be done by this evening.

Hopefully Billy gets a shot at running it, I think he would do well. Can't deny EJ's work ethic but not a fan of his style of journalism. He is pretty abrassive. There's a difference between telling it like it is and what he does.

Not to mention he compared himself to Leonardo DiCapri in Wolf of Wallstreet....come on!

A little concerned about what will happen with the site. Heard Rivals isn't doing too well either.

Might be an opportunity in there for a third site to come up. Not much money in covering SMU athletics though.

Lol, he turns off a lot of people, including the staffs. I never really felt a service was real journalism, so I didnt mind his style in that forum. Not sure it plays in legit publications though

Good to see EJ get the opportunity at DCTF. Kid can from a poor city and worked to get an opportunity for himself. I am happy for him. I think the site is back up now.

Before ej took over scout, I spoke w him about two services. Said by all means use it for your resume, but don't think smu can support two services. There just isn't the fan base or interest. They make peanuts, which is ok when you're in school. As scout grew, I kept warning people that once those kids graduate it'll change around. Here we are.

Sam at rivals is just disinterested it seems, and I like him. Good kid.Omar is out at scout too. Starting a hoops blog

Just heard from a guy from another scout site that wants to take the SMU scout site. He just sent a transfer request in to the Scout upper management to see what they say.

Just as long as a "Whorn" isn't running the site

I loved EJ's coverage. He had a chip on his shoulder from Armen telling him the same thing you mentioned Hoopmanx, and he should rightfully be proud of what he accomplished. You're right about Sam, Rivals has been a shell of its old self since Armen left. Like him or not, IMO EJ's work on the Scout site was the best work we've had from a pay service.

I'll say this again because I truly believe it, SMU needs to have a blog on the SB Nation platform, the team sites are unmatched.

I've been an avid reader of sports blogs since high school (9 years or so now) and I prefer their platform over any other. The live, updating commenting threads (no refreshing pages) make game threads a blast, and their content content is displayed in a clean, visually appealing manner. I think PonyFans should ditch this outdated setup and make amends with [deleted], and bring our blogs to a new era.

"SMU to the SEC"

An SB Nation blog would be great but Omar's new Hoops blog looks nice.

Would also like a 24/7 site for SMU
